You pay by the hour for the running software image, billed per EC2 instance type you choose. Pricing is not tiered by features. Instead, each rate maps to a specific AWS instance size, so your hourly cost scales with the compute, memory, and storage capacity of the instance you launch. Smaller instances like t3.micro carry the lowest hourly rates, while large memory, GPU, and metal instances carry higher rates. All instances run the same hardened WordPress on CentOS 9 image. You select one instance type to match your workload and pay only for the hours it runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get for the hourly rate on a given instance type?
You get the hardened WordPress on CentOS 9 image running on the AWS EC2 instance size you select. The rate covers the software license for one running instance. The compute, memory, and storage capacity you receive matches that instance type's AWS specification.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running time only. A stopped or powered-off instance does not accrue software charges. You may still pay underlying AWS fees, such as storage for the attached volume, but the image license bills only for hours the instance actually runs.
How does my cost change if I move to a bigger instance type?
Rates map to each specific AWS instance size, so switching to an instance with more compute, memory, or storage moves you to that instance's hourly rate. The change is not automatic. You launch the instance type you choose and pay its rate for the hours it runs.
