Top-of-mind questions for buyers
You are billed for each hour a chosen EC2 instance runs the CentOS Stream 9 image. One unit equals one running instance-hour of that specific Arm-based instance type. Each instance you launch is metered separately. The hourly rate reflects the size and family of the instance type you pick.
The software charge meters running hours only. A stopped or paused instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. You may still pay separate AWS charges for storage or other resources tied to that instance while it is stopped.
Cost tracks the instance types you run. To lower cost, run smaller instances or fewer hours. To add capacity, launch larger instance types or more instances. Each running instance bills independently at its own hourly rate, so your total is the sum across all active instances.
