You pay by the hour for a hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 machine image, billed for each hour an instance runs. Pricing is not tiered by plan. Instead, each rate maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, so your hourly cost tracks the instance size and family you choose. Smaller instances like t1.micro or m1.small carry lower hourly rates, while large multi-core and metal instances cost more per hour. Running more instances or larger sizes raises your total. The image ships with current updates applied.

What does one hourly unit cover, and what counts toward my bill?
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the type you select, billed per hour. The rate covers the hardened Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 software on that instance. Each instance you launch is metered separately, so your total reflects how many instances run and for how long.
Am I charged when an instance is stopped or paused?
The software charge meters running time per instance. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Underlying AWS storage or other resources may still bill separately. When you restart the instance, the hourly software rate resumes for each hour it runs.
Why do rates differ across instance types like t1.micro versus a metal instance?
There is no plan tier. Each hourly rate is tied to a specific EC2 instance type. Larger families and metal instances carry higher hourly rates than small shared instances. You control cost by choosing the instance size and family that fits your workload.
