The rate covers the hardened, ECS-optimized Amazon Linux 2023 ARM image software running on your chosen Graviton EC2 instance. It does not include the underlying AWS compute, storage, or data transfer, which AWS bills separately. You pay both the software rate and the AWS infrastructure cost.
Am I charged when the instance is stopped or paused?
The software rate meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue software charges. You may still owe AWS storage fees for attached volumes while stopped, but the image software bills active running time.
