If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for support on Windows Server 2019, billed against the EC2 instance type you run. Each dimension maps to a specific instance size, from small burstable types like t1.micro and t3.nano up to large memory, compute, GPU, and bare-metal options such as u-24tb1.112xlarge and p5.48xlarge. Pricing scales with the instance's size and family. Larger instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware carry higher hourly rates. You select the dimension that matches your chosen instance and pay only for the hours you use.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly charge cover, and what is the unit tied to?
Each hourly charge covers support for Windows Server 2019 running on one EC2 instance. The unit is one running instance-hour of the specific instance type you select. You pick the dimension that matches your instance size, and you are billed per hour that instance runs.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or powered off?
The hourly support charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue this software charge. When you restart, hourly billing resumes for that instance type. Note that underlying AWS storage or other resource fees may still apply while an instance is stopped.
How does my cost change if I switch to a different instance size?
Cost changes because each instance type maps to its own dimension and hourly rate. Moving to an instance with more CPU, memory, GPU, or bare-metal hardware raises the hourly rate. Moving to a smaller type lowers it. The change takes effect when you run the new instance type.
