The hourly software charge meters running time only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the software fee. You may still pay standard AWS storage costs for attached volumes while the instance is stopped, but that is separate from this listing's software rate.
Two charges apply to the same running instance. The software rate for the chosen instance type bills per hour of runtime. AWS bills its own compute rate for that instance separately. Both appear on your AWS invoice and add together for each hour the instance runs.

- The operating system refrains from storing any sensitive data for customers. It is the customer's responsibility to retain any information, regardless of its sensitivity.
- Default settings do not include encryption for data saved on the volumes.
- Key pair access is mandated for all instance authentication, with password-based authentication prohibited.
- Passwords, authentication keys, key pairs, security keys, and other credentials are not included within AMIs.
- Step-by-step instructions for how to assess and monitor the health and proper function of the application.
- Navigate to your Amazon EC2 console and verify that you're in the correct region.
