You buy this identity platform through an annual contract, priced per user. Two options are available. The Starter tier at 100 users sets up a base identity foundation. The Essentials tier at 1,000 users adds more capabilities for organizations scaling their identity needs. The tiers differ by user count and included features, so pricing scales with the number of users you cover and the tier you select. Both are billed annually. To move up, you generally add more suite licenses, since all products in a suite share the same subscription count.

A user is one person you cover under the platform, such as an employee, contractor, or partner. Each person counts as one licensed user. The Starter tier covers 100 users; the Essentials tier covers 1,000 users. All products in your suite share the same user subscription count.
Starter includes Single Sign-On, Multi-Factor Authentication, Universal Directory, and a set number of Workflows. Essentials adds everything in Starter plus Adaptive MFA, Privileged Access, Lifecycle Management, Access Governance, and more Workflows. Choosing Essentials raises both your covered users and included feature set.
In most cases you add more suite licenses, since all products share the same subscription count. This keeps coverage consistent across the suite. A few exceptions apply, such as Workflows, Privileged Access, and Machine-to-Machine tokens, which can scale separately.

I appreciate its seamless Single Sign-On capabilities and the extensive library of pre-built connectors that drastically simplify identity management across our internal applications.

Configuring custom SAML integrations for our older legacy systems can be unexpectedly complex and time-consuming compared to using their standard connectors

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Okta is how simple and seamless it makes accessing the different tools I use throughout my workday. Having a centralized and secure way to sign in reduces the friction of managing multiple accounts and credentials, especially when working across several analytics and collaboration platforms.
The single sign-on experience is straightforward and reliable, and I appreciate that it provides an additional layer of security without making the login process feel overly complicated. Overall, it makes accessing the tools I need faster and more convenient while still maintaining strong security.

What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I dislike about Okta is that the authentication process can occasionally feel repetitive, especially when I’m asked to verify my identity multiple times throughout the day or when switching between different tools. While I understand that these steps are important for security, they can sometimes interrupt the workflow.
It would be helpful if the experience were a little more seamless while maintaining the same level of security. Overall, though, this is a relatively minor inconvenience compared to the convenience and security Okta provides

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Okta solves the challenge of securely managing access to multiple tools and applications without requiring users to keep track of separate credentials for each one. For me, the biggest benefit is having a centralized and consistent way to access the platforms I use every day.
It saves time, reduces login-related friction, and makes switching between different tools much easier. At the same time, features like multi-factor authentication provide confidence that access to company systems and data is well protected. Overall, Okta helps make secure access feel like a natural part of the workflow rather than an additional task
