AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
You pay by the hour for the software, billed per running instance. Every dimension maps to a specific ARM64-based EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the hardware size and family you pick. General-purpose (m, t, a), compute-optimized (c), memory-optimized (r, x), storage-optimized (i, im, is), GPU (g5g), and HPC (hpc7g) families are all covered. Larger sizes within a family cost more per hour, scaling with vCPU and memory. Metal options run on dedicated hardware. You add the underlying AWS EC2 infrastructure charge separately.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do I actually get for the hourly software rate on each instance type?
You get a SUSE version 15 GUI Linux desktop that you reach through a remote desktop client. It includes an RDP-based desktop, a fish shell with command auto-completion, a code editor, and a web browser. The rate covers this software running on the ARM64 EC2 instance size you pick.
Am I charged the software fee when the instance is stopped?
The software fee meters running time by the hour. A fully stopped instance stops accruing hourly software charges. You may still pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Charges resume when you start the instance again.
How does the software charge combine with the AWS infrastructure cost on my bill?
Two charges apply at the same time. The hourly software fee for your chosen instance type is one line. The AWS EC2 infrastructure cost for that same instance is billed separately. Both scale with the instance size and family you select, and both appear on your AWS invoice.

What do you like best about the product?
I highly appreciate how Debian GUI Linux combines stability with a user-friendly graphical interface, making it easy for my team to navigate and work efficiently. The OS is lightweight and performs smoothly even on older hardware, which is a major advantage in our environment. Implementation is straightforward thanks to the clear documentation, and I regularly use it for software development, testing, and managing small servers. It provides a solid set of features for coding and system administration, and integrates seamlessly with existing tools and workflows. When needed, customer support—mainly through forums and email—is reliable and informative.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some software packages are not pre-installed, so setting up specific development environments can take additional time. Updates occasionally require careful planning, which can be disruptive to ongoing projects. Advanced integration scenarios sometimes require extra configuration, and the frequency of updates can occasionally interrupt work.

This saves time and makes working on Linux more efficient and enjoyable, allowing my team to focus on development and server maintenance without frequent interruptions.
