You pay by the hour for the ARM64 Kali Linux desktop, billed only while your instance runs. The software rate stays the same across every option, and separate AWS infrastructure charges apply to whichever instance you launch. The many dimensions listed are ARM64-based EC2 instance types, grouped into families for general purpose, compute, memory, and storage-focused workloads. Within each family, sizes range from small (like nano and medium) up to large multi-core and metal configurations. You pick the instance that fits your processing, memory, and storage needs. Pricing scales with the size and family you choose.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and what runs on the instance I launch?
One unit is one running ARM64 EC2 instance of the type you pick. Each instance runs the Kali Linux GUI desktop pre-installed with security and penetration-testing tools. You are billed per instance-hour while it runs. Launching more instances multiplies the charge across each one.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
Software charges apply only while the instance runs. A stopped or paused instance stops accruing the hourly software fee. However, attached AWS storage may still incur underlying infrastructure fees while the instance is stopped. The software license meters running time only.
How do the software charge and the AWS instance charge combine on my bill?
Two charges apply per running hour and add together. The software rate stays the same across every instance type you select. The separate AWS infrastructure charge varies with the instance family and size you launch. Larger or higher-spec instances raise the AWS portion, while the software portion holds steady.
