Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run this ZooKeeper software on. The 18 dimensions all map to specific instance sizes across the t2, t3, t3a, m3, and m4 families. Larger instances with more compute and memory carry higher hourly rates, so your cost scales with the capacity you choose. Billing is usage-based, meaning you pay only for the hours each instance runs. Each instance choice bundles the same secured, supported ZooKeeper deployment; the difference between dimensions is the underlying hardware size, not the software features.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hour of billing represent for these dimensions?
Each dimension meters one running instance-hour of the chosen EC2 instance type. You are charged for every hour an instance runs the ZooKeeper software. The rate matches the instance family and size you launch, such as t2, t3, t3a, m3, or m4.
Am I charged the software fee when an instance is stopped?
The software fee meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Note that AWS may still bill you separately for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but that is not part of this software pricing.
What is included in the hourly rate across every instance type?
Every instance choice includes the same secured, supported ZooKeeper deployment. You can connect it to the Hossted Platform for real-time monitoring, automated updates, and security features. The difference between dimensions is only the underlying instance size, not the software or included capabilities.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.

It is an open-source system developed by the Apache Software Foundation and written in Java and Scala. Kafka runs on a cluster of one or more servers (called brokers), and the partitions of all topics are distributed across the cluster nodes. Additionally, partitions are replicated to multiple brokers. A Kafka cluster is not only highly scalable and fault-tolerant, but it also has a much higher throughput compared to other message brokers such as ActiveMQ and RabbitMQ. We have packaged and hardened the Kafka service offering so our customers can seamlessly subscribe to this offering with no setup work from their end.
