AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time. Alternatively, you can pay upfront for a contract, which typically covers your anticipated usage for the contract duration. Any usage beyond contract will incur additional usage-based costs.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance size you choose to run this Kafka deployment. The 15 dimensions map to specific instance types across two families: general-purpose t-series (t2 and t3) and m-series (m3 and m4). Within each family, hourly rates scale with instance size, from large up to 16xlarge. Larger instances offer more compute and memory capacity for heavier workloads. You select one instance type to match your performance needs, and billing accrues per hour of use. This covers the software along with security and support from the vendor.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What do the instance sizes like large, xlarge, and 16xlarge mean for what I get?
Each dimension maps to an EC2 instance type. The size label reflects allocated compute and memory. A large instance provides less capacity than a 16xlarge. You pick one type to run the Kafka software, and the hourly rate matches that size's resources.
Am I charged while the instance is stopped or powered off?
Hourly software charges accrue only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops the software metering. Underlying AWS storage or other resource fees may still apply separately, but the software charge tracks running hours only.
What is included beyond the software itself in these hourly rates?
Each hourly rate covers the Kafka deployment with a web interface, plus security and support from the vendor. Support includes deployment help, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting for the open-source application.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
