The Rails OpenLiteSpeed image automatically installs Linux, performance web server OpenLiteSpeed, Ruby, Rails, Node.js, NPM, and CertBot. OpenLiteSpeed features HTTP/3 support, and easy setup for SSL and RewriteRules. It's flexible enough to host multiple Rails apps, and supports many other apps including Python, Ruby, and CMSs like WordPress.s.

Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you choose to run this software. The many dimensions are not tiers or feature levels. They map directly to AWS instance sizes across families like general purpose, compute, memory, storage, and accelerated computing. The software itself is the same on every instance. Your hourly rate rises as you select instances with more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware. Smaller instances cost less per hour; larger ones cost more. You pay only for the hours each instance runs, with no upfront commitment.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each instance runs a preconfigured image with the OpenLiteSpeed web server plus Ruby and Rails installed. It includes setup for SSL certificates and rewrite rules. The web server also supports other application types. You access a web-based admin console to manage the server after launch.
The hourly software charge applies only while the instance runs. A fully stopped instance stops accruing software charges. You may still pay separate AWS fees for attached storage or other resources while stopped. The software meters running hours only, with no upfront commitment.
Each option maps to an AWS instance type across families like general purpose, compute, memory, storage, and accelerated computing. The software is identical on all of them. Choose based on the CPU, memory, or hardware your Rails workload needs. Your hourly rate follows the instance size you select.

Quick Start for Rails: Follow these simple steps to get up and running with your new Rails install! Step 1. SSH into the instance using the username 'ubuntu' - you will see the information included in the welcome message. Step 2. A script will run that will allow you to add a domain to the web server and implement SSL via the SSH console. Step 3. Visit the instance's IP address or domain in your browser and the Rails site is completed.
