Tuning performance options has been challenging but improves page speed and boosts engagement
What is our primary use case?
My main use case for OpenLiteSpeed is to improve the speed of my web page. It is a very excellent option to improve the speed of my web page. I really appreciate how quickly it makes my web pages load. I did not need advanced knowledge to set it up. Just by installing it, my web pages' loading improved significantly, making its basic implementation very easy. Then, I wanted to further improve the loading, and there I did need some help due to the number of options that can be changed. However, it was worth it because it improved even more.
A specific example of a website where I saw improvements after switching to OpenLiteSpeed is my own. It helped me solve performance issues on my website. I always install it to improve loading speed. It also helps me increase my score on Google's PageSpeed Insights, which is very important for improving ranking. To give you an idea, before activating this tool, my website loaded slowly. For example, on Google's tool, it showed a speed of 20% to 25% on mobile. After activating OpenLiteSpeed, it showed approximately 55%, and after making some manual configuration, I managed to increase it to 85%. Additionally, it helped me build high-performance WordPress stacks that are now hosting almost all my clients.
What is most valuable?
In my opinion, the best features OpenLiteSpeed offers include the possibility for custom coding. I find these features valuable because it is very easy to customize it and make it simpler. Its simplicity and modifiability are great. It is also very cost-effective.
OpenLiteSpeed is very easy to use and has a very user-friendly interface. It is an open-source web server. Additionally, it offers better support.
OpenLiteSpeed has positively impacted my organization by helping me increase my score on Google's PageSpeed Insights, which is very important for improving ranking. To give you an idea, before activating this tool, my website loaded slowly. For example, on Google's tool, it showed a speed of 20% to 25% on mobile. After activating OpenLiteSpeed, it showed approximately 55%, and after making some manual configurations, I managed to increase it to 85%. I noticed a lot of visitor sites visiting and also better engagement from our clients and customers. It also helped me build high-performance WordPress stacks that are now hosting almost all my clients.
What needs improvement?
To improve OpenLiteSpeed, I think it can be improved as manually configuring all the features of this tool can be a bit complicated. On some occasions, when I was configuring the tool, I faced problems with my page loading, which caused it to lose its design. After much searching, I found that this was because I enabled the option to combine the CSS and JS files.
OpenLiteSpeed does require some technical knowledge on creating servers and VPS.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working as a Network Engineer for seven years and six months.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
OpenLiteSpeed is very stable. Stability has always been key.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
OpenLiteSpeed's scalability has always been very good. It is able to scale according to our organization's growth and needs.
How are customer service and support?
The customer support has been very helpful in my case. I have been able to reach out to them a few times, and they have been very helpful. They have been able to solve all our issues before they impact our business processes. They are solution-oriented and available 24/7.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I previously used Speed Kit because OpenLiteSpeed is open-source, which makes it free. It quickly makes my web pages load faster. When it comes to implementation, it is very easy and also very cost-effective. It improved our loading speed from 45% to 85%, making our website more visible, resulting in many visitors and a lot of engagement, which improved our productivity.
How was the initial setup?
Deploying OpenLiteSpeed in my environment is pretty easy, much easier than other tools such as Apache. It is very easy, especially when using AWS Marketplace .
My experience with the configuration process was very easy. I never ran into any issues because 90% of it is done in the web GUI, not configuration files.
What about the implementation team?
Our procurement process for OpenLiteSpeed is fast because it has a zero-dollar license. Ninety percent of my organization's companies are able to use WordPress plus OpenLiteSpeed image, pay AWS monthly, and skip all vendor negotiations, so it was very easy.
What was our ROI?
I have seen a return on investment because it is a very crucial and great tool that helped me solve performance issues on my website. It also helped me increase my score on Google Page Insights. It showed an improved speed from 45% to 85%. It helped us gain many visitors on our website and a lot of engagement over the past 10 years. As a result, our productivity has increased.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
My experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing is that licensing is $0, so it is very cost-effective. The cost is also efficient and cost-effective.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Before choosing OpenLiteSpeed, I evaluated Varnish software.
What other advice do I have?
My advice to others looking into using OpenLiteSpeed is that those who are currently using tools such as Apache2 and Nginx servers will see their server performance increase by at least 70% to 80%. Combine it with your CMS and Memcache, Redis , and get your page speed score up. I found OpenLiteSpeed much easier to manage than the above-mentioned alternatives.
OpenLiteSpeed improved performance up to 85% from 45%. This resulted in more page views, and my sales ranking is slowly but surely going up.
I found this interview to be good, but it would be great if it were faster. I gave this review a rating of 5 out of 5.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
They charge for the software
OpenLiteSpeed is the open source and freely available version of LiteSpeed. Paying $5 per month to use it is ridiculous.
You can run this software on your server yourself for free. I don't find it acceptable that they charge you $5 per month forever just to install it.
Efficient and Reliable
I have been using WordPress with LiteSpeed Cache on AWS EC2, and I am impressed with its performance and ease of setup. This combination has proven to be a reliable solution for my website needs.
Easy to setup with optimized site
This image supports rewrite rules, so I can migrate some sites from Apache easily. And the page loading time is really fast with default configuration.
With minimal workload the server goes down
I had a lot of performance issues and server crashes, as well as intermittent connections via ssh, usually very bad, unlike ami-097344441c93a43a8 where I didn't have any issues.
