Dimensions summary
You pay by the hour for the software running on an Amazon EC2 instance. Each dimension maps to a specific EC2 instance type, so your rate depends on the instance size you choose. Options span several families, including burstable t2 and t3 types and general-purpose m3, m4, m5, m5a, m5ad, m5d, m5dn, and m5n types. Sizes range from nano and micro up to 24xlarge and bare metal. As you pick larger instances with more compute and memory, the hourly rate rises. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each dimension maps to one running Amazon EC2 instance of the named type. The rate covers the TinyProxy software licence for that instance. Larger instance types carry more virtual CPUs and memory, so their hourly rate is higher. You run the proxy server on whichever single instance size you select.
The software licence meters running hours only. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Note that AWS may still bill separately for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Software charges resume when you start the instance again.
You choose one instance type when you launch, and your hourly rate follows that choice. To move to another size, you launch a new instance of the different type. The proxy configuration lives in a config file you can edit after connecting over SSH.
