Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition AMI by cloudimg
Deploy Oracle's flagship enterprise relational database on AWS in minutes - pre-configured, performance-tuned, and backed by 24x7 expert support with a guaranteed 24-hour response SLA.
This AMI is purpose-built for DBAs and infrastructure teams at organizations running mission-critical Oracle11g workloads who need a production-ready deployment path on AWS without weeks of manual configuration.
Why Choose cloudimg's Oracle 11g AMI
Unlike a self-managed Oracle installation, this AMI ships pre-hardened and pre-integrated with AWS services so your team can focus on application delivery rather than infrastructure plumbing:
Pre-installed observability stack - AWS CLI v2, CloudWatch Agent, and SSM Agent are configured out of the box, giving you unified monitoring from first boot without additional setup.
Guaranteed support SLA - Average one-hour first response from Oracle-specialized engineers, with 24x7x365 coverage including RAC failover troubleshooting, patching coordination, and architecture guidance.
Performance-optimized baseline - ENA enhanced networking (up to 25 Gbps per flow) and automatic EBS optimization configured for sustained I/O, tuned specifically for Oracle database workloads.
Security-hardened image - Latest OS security patches applied at build time, with EBS optimization for consistent storage performance.
Key Oracle 11g Enterprise Features Supported
Real Application Clusters (RAC) - Multi-node clustering for maximum availability and horizontal scalability.
Data Guard and Active Data Guard - Real-time replication and disaster recovery with automatic failover capabilities.
Partitioning - Table and index partitioning for data warehouse and BI workloads requiring parallel query execution.
Advanced Security - Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Data Redaction, and Label Security for regulated environments.
Common Deployment Scenarios
Financial services transaction processing - Deploy a multi-node RAC cluster for high-availability OLTP workloads where downtime directly impacts revenue. Leverage Data Guard for cross-region disaster recovery meeting stringent RPO/RTO requirements.
Enterprise data warehouse and BI - Use Partitioning and parallel query execution on memory-optimized EC2 instances to power analytics workloads against large datasets.
Regulated industry applications - Enable TDE for encryption at rest and Data Redaction for dynamic masking to meet data protection requirements in healthcare, government, or financial services environments.
Legacy workload migration - Lift and shift existing Oracle 11g databases to AWS with minimal re-architecture, using the same Oracle version your applications already depend on.
AWS Integration Points
Amazon CloudWatch - Pre-installed agent streams OS and custom Oracle metrics to CloudWatch dashboards.
AWS Systems Manager - SSM Agent enables remote management, patching, and automation without SSH access.
Amazon EBS - Optimized for provisioned IOPS and throughput-optimized volumes for database storage.
Enhanced Networking (ENA) - Up to 25 Gbps bandwidth per flow for RAC interconnect traffic and fast RMAN backups.

See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the software, billed against whichever EC2 instance type you run. Every option carries the same Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition image and 24/7 support; only the underlying instance differs. Prices scale with the compute, memory, and storage of the instance you pick. Smaller sizes like t2.micro and m5.large suit light or test workloads, while larger sizes such as m8i.96xlarge and u7in-32tb.224xlarge fit heavy production loads. You choose the instance that matches your capacity needs, and the hourly rate follows that choice. No commitment term applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What exactly do I pay for beyond the software each hour?
You pay the hourly software rate for the Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition image tied to your chosen EC2 instance type. That software charge is separate from the underlying AWS compute, and any storage volumes you attach, such as the root disk and the dedicated /u01 Oracle volume, bill separately through AWS.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running instance-hours. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Attached storage volumes may still incur AWS storage fees while the instance is stopped, but the software licence itself meters only the time the instance runs.
What is the smallest instance this database will run on?
The image needs at least 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 20 GB disk. cloudimg recommends m5.large, which offers 2 vCPU and 8 GB RAM, or larger. Small sizes like t2.micro meet the minimum for testing, while production loads benefit from more memory.
