If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the running EC2 instance you choose. The software price stays the same across instance types; your cost changes with the compute size you pick. Smaller instances like t2.nano or t3.micro cost less per hour, while large memory, compute, GPU, and bare-metal instances cost more. This lets you match spending to your workload. Each hourly rate bundles the Oracle Database 11g Standard Edition AMI and 24/7 support with a 24-hour response SLA. You can start small and move to a larger instance as your database needs grow.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and what specs come with the recommended instance?
Each hourly rate covers one running EC2 instance loaded with the Oracle Database 11g Standard Edition AMI and 24/7 support. The instance size sets the compute. The recommended m5.large gives 2 vCPU and 8 GB RAM. Minimum requirements are 1 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, and 20 GB disk.
Am I charged the hourly rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running instance-hours. A stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. You may still pay AWS for attached storage, such as the root volume and the dedicated /u01 Oracle volume, since those persist while the instance is stopped.
What happens to my cost if I move the database to a larger instance?
You pay the hourly rate tied to whichever instance size is running. Switching to a larger type raises your per-hour cost; moving to a smaller type lowers it. The change takes effect when the new instance runs. You can scale up as your database grows.
