What do you like best about the product?

What I like best about IBM Cloudability is that it gives me a clearer view of cloud spending. As a network administrator, that helps me connect infrastructure usage with costs and gives me useful information to discuss with other teams. I also appreciate being able to review the cost data in one place instead of piecing it together from different sources.

What do you dislike about the product?

One thing I’d like to improve is how easy it is for new users to find and understand the information they need. Some reports and settings can take time to learn, so a simpler interface and clearer guidance would make it easier to get started.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

IBM Cloudability helps our team get a clearer view of cloud spending and understand where costs are coming from. As a network administrator, that context helps me discuss infrastructure usage with other teams and investigate changes in spending. It makes cost information easier to use when planning and managing our cloud environment.

What do you like best about the product?

What I like most is the visibility it provides into cloud spending. It makes it easier to track where the money is going, understand usage patterns, and identify areas where we can optimize costs. The reporting and dashboards are also useful for presenting cost information to different teams.

What do you dislike about the product?

The learning curve can be a little steep at first, especially when exploring the different reports and cost-management features. It also takes some time to get everything configured and aligned with your organization’s cloud environment. Once set up, though, it becomes easier to work with.

The main problem it helps solve is the lack of visibility into cloud costs across different environments and services. Cloudability makes it easier to track spending, understand usage, and spot areas where costs can be optimized. This helps with better budgeting, cost control, and making more informed decisions about cloud resources.

The key problems it helps address are:

- Lack of cost visibility: It gives us a consolidated view of cloud spending across accounts, applications, teams, and business units.
- Difficulty identifying cost drivers: We can understand what is driving increases in cloud costs and where the biggest expenses are.
- Poor cost ownership: Cost allocation and chargeback/showback help identify which teams or applications are responsible for cloud consumption.
- Cloud waste: It helps identify opportunities such as unused or underutilized resources and potential optimization areas.
- Budget management: It helps track spending against budgets and identify cost anomalies or unexpected increases.
- Multi-cloud complexity: It provides a common view across different cloud providers instead of relying only on individual cloud-provider tools.

How this benefits me

For my role, the biggest benefit is better decision-making based on actual cloud consumption and cost data. It helps me have meaningful conversations with engineering, finance, and business teams about where money is being spent and where we can optimize.

Instead of simply asking, “Why is our cloud bill increasing?”, we can drill down into the application, team, or resource responsible and take targeted action.

Overall, Cloudability helps us move from cloud cost visibility → accountability → optimization, which can improve financial control while supporting efficient cloud usage.

Accurate Chargeback: Split shared bills fairly between different vendor groups

Recommendations for Kubernetes lack the depth needed for modern container setups

It automates cost allocation so expenses can be accurately matched to specific business units, projects, or products.

What do you like best about the product?

Most helpful feature is being able to consolidate costs and recommendations from the main cloud vendors, as well as implement our own business logic into the mappings.

Rightsizing recommendations - quality, accuracy and limited scope
