You pay by the hour for the Rocky Linux 8.10 image, and the rate depends only on the EC2 instance type you launch. Each dimension maps to one instance size within a family, so pricing scales with the compute, memory, storage, or accelerator profile you pick. Smaller instances like t3 and micro sizes carry lower hourly rates, while metal and large multi-xlarge instances carry higher rates. You run the same supported image across all of them and are billed for the hours each instance runs. Vendor support is included with the image.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does the hourly rate cover, and what is included with the image?
The rate covers running the Rocky Linux 8.10 image on your chosen EC2 instance type, billed per hour. Vendor support is included. The image ships as a minimal install with an expandable root disk, SELinux enabled, cloud-init enabled, and the root user disabled. You reach support by email for questions or customization.
Am I charged when an instance running this image is stopped?
You are billed only for the hours each instance actually runs. When you stop an instance, the hourly software charge stops accruing. You may still owe underlying AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but the image itself meters running time only. Starting the instance again resumes hourly billing.
How is one billing unit defined across these instance options?
Each dimension maps to one EC2 instance type, billed per instance-hour. One unit equals one running instance of that type for one hour. Launching several instances multiplies the charge by the count running. Larger instance sizes and metal types carry different hourly rates than smaller sizes like nano or micro.
