This lightweight and secure AlmaLinux 8.8 image is built from the official ISO image, carefully stripped down to include only the essential packages and required AWS software to integrate into the AWS infrastructure (AWS CLI, Elastic Network Adapter & NVMe drivers). This results in a minimal image that is fast to boot, reduces storage requirements, and optimizes system responsiveness. The image is updated with the latest security patches and updates, providing protection against known vulnerabilities and ensuring the stability and reliability of your server environment. Other features: key based authentication with 'ec2-user' username, cloud-init and SELinux enabled, root login disabled, automatic root disk resize based on the instance volume configuration. This image repackages free and open source software and all trademarks used inside are the property of their respective owners

Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each unit is one running EC2 instance of the named type, billed per hour. The rate bundles the AlmaLinux 8.8 image and Rinne Labs support. You pay the same hourly software rate for every hour that instance runs, on top of the underlying AWS infrastructure charge.
The software rate meters running hours, so a fully stopped instance stops accruing that hourly charge. You may still owe AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped. Charges resume once you start the instance again.
You choose the dimension matching the EC2 instance type your workload needs. Each type has its own hourly rate. Switching to a different instance type changes your rate to that type's price. Larger or specialized instances carry higher hourly rates than small burstable ones.

Usage instructions
To connect to the VM:
- Use SSH to connect
- Username provisioned inside is: 'ec2-user'
- Use the SSH key provided at the launch of the instance
- Run 'sudo su -' to get a root prompt

Check the health and functionality of the virtual machine you have just launched:
- Go to your Amazon EC2 console and ensure you are in the correct region
- Select 'Instances' from the left menu and click on the newly launched instance
- Click on the 'Status and Alarms' tab at the bottom of the page to check all parameters are green
