You pay by the hour based on the EC2 instance type you run. The 21 options are all instance sizes for the same Terraform software, so your cost scales with the compute you choose. Options span burstable t3 and t3a families for lighter or variable workloads, plus general-purpose m5, m5a, m6a, m6i, m7a, and m7i families and compute-optimized c7i sizes. Within each family, larger sizes (nano, micro, small, medium, large, xlarge) carry higher hourly rates. You pick one instance type and pay only for the hours it runs. Support is included at 24/7.

What do the hourly rates cover, and are AWS infrastructure costs included?
The hourly rate covers the Terraform software image and 24/7 support. It does not include the underlying AWS EC2 compute charges, which AWS bills separately based on the instance type you choose. You pay both the software rate and standard AWS fees while the instance runs.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software charge. Note that stopped instances may still incur AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are separate from the software license and billed by AWS.
Can I test Terraform without spending on live AWS resources?
Yes. The image ships with a local AWS service emulator preinstalled, running via container. It simulates services like S3 on the instance itself, so you can run the Terraform workflow without an AWS account or credentials. You still pay the hourly software and instance rates while the server runs.
