Leaders from across the Commonwealth of Virginia, including Governor Ralph Northam, announced a new Cloud Degree collaboration between AWS Educate and select K12 school divisions, the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), and leading four-year universities on Friday, September 20, 2019.
AWS Educate collaborates with Bay Area consortium on cloud curriculum
Amazon Web Services (AWS) and a consortium of Bay Area community colleges along with their K12 and California State University partners, launched a regional initiative to prepare students for jobs in one of the fastest-growing, and highest-paying, areas in the technology field: cloud computing. The schools include City College of San Francisco, Canada College, De Anza College, Evergreen Valley College, Foothill College, Las Positas College, College of San Mateo, Mission College, SIATech High Schools and Skyline College.

Munich University of Applied Sciences (MUAS) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) opened the Digital Transformation Lab (DTLab) at a July 18, 2019 launch event. George Mason University and Northern Virginia Community College Announce the Region’s First Bachelor’s Degree for Cloud Computing with AWS Educate
George Mason University (Mason) and Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), in collaboration with AWS Educate, announced a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) pathway in cloud computing. This degree offers students a seamless transfer pathway from a two-year associate degree to a four-year bachelor degree in the cloud, providing a clear path to high-demand careers in cloud computing at AWS partners and customers.

Environmental Problem Solvers: University of California Santa Barbara Builds Machine Learning Tool to Measure Chemical Impact
Currently, there are 150 million chemicals registered and managed by the American Chemical Society. Every day, 15,000 to 20,000 new chemicals are registered. These chemicals are present in everything from our household cleaning products to the food we eat. But how do these chemicals affect us? And how do they affect the environment? A research group at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UC Santa Barbara, with funding from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), works to answer those questions for the masses with the Chemical Life Cycle Collaborative (CLiCC) tool.
