Awesome product with great performance monitoring feature

  • January 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's performance monitoring feature I like most. Apart from this service monitoring, network equipment are also nice features. If we talk about database monitoring, it performs well. One more feature I like is its chart comparison. It is very useful to check all the services in single dashboard.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its cost. Dynatrace is not cost effective for everyone. It is bit costly as compare to other tools available. It is tough to understand by beginners, It is very complex. It will take time to get hands on this tool and services. So this is the area which I did not like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Server Monitoring was the main concern from my team, so we solved it by Dynatrace. Later on we have implemented performance monitoring and network equipment in our project, both worked very well. We use chart comparison on daily basis to get the server performance. Log monitoring is also one of the major good area of dynatrace. These are the business problem solved by Dynatrace.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I will recommend dynatrace to everyone. It is very useful and reduce the huge project complexity. User do not need to think on server side, they can easily focus on their project and business requirements. Hats off to Dynatrace team. Company should implement dynatrace to their project to get rid of the server related issues or to reduce the infrastructure issue. Also explore the various plugins provided by the team to enhance the project need. It is now available on almost all the cloud system.

What do you dislike about the product?
The product cost is very high and very hard to afford.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is very easy to monitor charts and graphs. easy to identify sever logs as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Iam recommending this product because of great UI and easy to monitor the server in charts and also see logs very easily.Platform monitoring is very good feature i found.Comparison charts , error monitoring , capacity planning are the best features using in our project. very easy to understand even for a beginner. It is very easy to implement in our project as well. usiness transactions enable you to organize and identify specific types of user requests, such as logging in or adding items to a cart, with the intent of translating the technical data captured by the user experience, application, and infrastructure monitoring capabilities of AppMon into relevant information for your business. This provides real-time visibility of correlated application performance and business performance data to help all team members better understand applications, infrastructure, and the resulting impact on your business.Slow performance data on site-usage or revenue flow, minute-by-minute, real-time, in production.Real-Time Business Transaction Monitoring. UEM data is correlated with server-side performance data to provide you with the ability to identify a slow request in a specific user visit, and then drill down from the individual visit into your entire server-side infrastructure (Java, .NET, PHP) down to a single method invocation or database call.

All-in-one solution, fantastically easy to implement

  • December 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We're a smaller startup. We don't have the luxury of time or staff resources to spend on the major tasks of implementing traditional server host monitoring, Application performance monitoring, or log ingestion. Dynatrace was an amazing find! With nothing more than 3 commands, or a simple docker container, we had everything running in minutes. Within 1 week, we had enough customizations to be production ready.

No other provider gives us log ingestion, Kubernetes/docker monitoring, and application monitoring for NodeJS. Some competitors provide aspects of that, and some offer all 3, but not for NodeJS. Dynatrace was the perfect fit.

We also really love the automatic alerts. Dynatrace alerts are based off of deviations from baseline metrics it is constantly collecting. We didn't need to set thresholds ourselves. If something suddenly changes with our application or network that "doesn't look nromal", Dyantrace will tell us. It's been a breeze.
What do you dislike about the product?
The pricing is a little high, but still cheaper than competitors because Dynatrace at least HAS pay-as-you-go. Others do not. However, the pricing is confusing. I wish it was more simplified when trying to price out moving to a yearly contract.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As mentioned before, we're a small startup. Implementing Dynatrace was a no-brainer. It would have taken us at least 2 months and hiring another SysOps person to get logging, monitoring, alerting, and APM implemented with cheaper or free open source solutions. It was far cheaper and faster to go with Dynatrace.

The additional benefit we didn't even realize at first was dashboards! Dashboards wasn't even on our radar when we purchased. Now, we have a giant TV hung in the office that shows various application and network metrics from a custom Dynatrace dashboard. We love it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try with the free trial. It'll change your entire perspective!
