Useful for small things, less for serious debugging

  • July 31, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
Can easily set up and catch example data from runs. Can sometimes be a good alternative to going into the code and adding logs - doesn't require us to deploy and wait for logs to go live. UI is good and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
When your flows contain a lot of data, and you want to explore all of this data, rookout doesn't catch all of it by default, and you are required to click "Collect more" which still doesn't collect all data you usually need if it's huge. I would prefer it to collect 1 example of full data from one flow/run instead of trying to collect partial samples from many flows. As a result rookout is mostly useless if you're trying to find, for example, if a specific entry exists in an array of size 100.

The most serious flaw is that conditional breakpoints a lot of times don't work (in Wix's case I never managed to create a conditional breakpoint by metaSiteId or requestId).

Also missing a feature to "collect sample from one run and that's it, stop".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Don't have to pollute code with logs. When debugging in production saves the time it takes for a log to deploy (and the time to write the log). As a result I'm writing less code that's not relaed to business logic.

The app is really helpful of debugging production bugs

  • May 31, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
That you don't need to add custom log to know what is really hapening in you code, you can just add a dynamic breakpoint and see live logs from production in zero time.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main problem with the debugging tool is that for as far as I know you cant mark breakpoint that is depended on another, hence is really hard to focus on specific flow in your code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm able to solve bugs much faster and understand my problem without needing to add custom logs in my code to proudction. This reduces the overhead of CI-CD and coding part.

What do you like best about the product?
There are leading Observability platform and have best product in APM space. Their support team is great and already working on lot of new innovations across the platform
What do you dislike about the product?
This is a product which may be costly when deployed at scale. Also customization is little harder and at times documenation has not fluid flow. Everything else is good.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is APM platform and solves observability requirement for our usecase. And also RUM is great with platform. This also gets lot of SAAS onservability... This is

Debugging systems in production, and used the pycharm extention

  • January 04, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to add breakpoint on the fly, make them conditional, the support we get from you
What do you dislike about the product?
The Pycharm Extention takes too much space in the screen and not so intuative
Rookout make our programs slow (a bug that we discuss about with the support)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Understand what happened with the data in our system and investigating complex problems.

What do you like best about the product?
It can be beneficial for debugging in the development phase and also can be helpful for production.
Not sure what the impact using rookout in production in terms of performance
What do you dislike about the product?
Missing support in PHP.
Had an issue with branches on UI after doing changes manually on the server.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy for developers and QA to find what happened

Intuitive tool for live debugging

  • November 23, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy integration (We integrated to .net project)
User experience is clear (both from IDEs and Web UI)
The tool does what it promises reliably and has relative low profile for live debugging.
What do you dislike about the product?
We suffer from dll hell as part of the initial integration. However, we get a fast replay from the Rookout team.
While we didn't suffer any issues, we still find the rookout version release not very clear and transparent.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Enable understanding of complicated flow in production (add stack trace and monitor variables), enabling debugging issues on a production machine.
It also enables adding logging and metrics to production however, the tool is consumed machine resources (CPU mainly) which should be taken into consideration when adding on high-rate profiling

Review on Best APM tool - Dynatrace

  • August 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a DevOps Enthusiast, I liked dynatrace because of its Davis AI Engine with software intelligence, which minimizes my day-to-day tasks for monitoring hosts/VMs all in one place with the help of its dashboards and smartscape topologies . It does provide the root cause analysis of problems , which in turn reduces my time for troubleshooting.
What do you dislike about the product?
As far as I have noticed there are no drawbacks that I could think of, but it would be great if some parts are open source and APIs for integration with mulesoft and apigee are available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As added APIs and SDKs for log ingestion for a better view of logs and it gives a clearer view of application security. The best part is one can make business analytical decisions with the help of dyantrace.
