Cloud authentication solution for a mobile workforce

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The most important feature to us is the ability to move directory services to the cloud, supporting both Macs and PCs within our environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
We've run into some challenges with migrating some existing MDM-managed machines over to JumpCloud; however, once enrolled, the service has worked well so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The pandemic exposed some gaps in our technology strategy for partial or fully remote employees. JumpCloud helps us manage devices independently of whether they are physically in-office or remote.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
So far, JumpCloud has worked well for our company. The initial hurdle of enrolling existing machines with user accounts required some effort and troubleshooting; however, once enrolled, JumpCloud appears to be a good solution for cloud directory services and MDM management of Mac devices.

What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy the apple MDM system the best on Jumpcloud.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that I can not deploy apple apps to remote systems, though that is not JC issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using JC to issue login's to remote computers and we realized that we can disable/wipe computers remotely as well.

What do you like best about the product?
I'm still evaluating the software and I like it, so far. It's intuitive and there are a lot of features.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found anything that I dislike about the application; however, I wish the video tutorials were updated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm using it to create a cloud-based network and I've used it to teach students how to use it and leverage the benefits. I like the security features.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is worth trying.

Domain control without the domain headaches

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The policy and hardening of workstations
What do you dislike about the product?
Time is missing for pushing applications
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This fits a gap for our clients that have moved from local domain to cloud technologies to secure and harden user workstations and laptops. We can deploy new user hardware with packaged policies and hardening just like we would on a local domain. This allows us to secure our client environments and have less of the wild west for users to have free reign of security, applications, changing admin settings. Most important over all is manageability and security of our client's resources.

Cloud Directory Services

What do you like best about the product?
We imported our Google Workspace users for testing and very quickly worked through testing a synchronized identity. JumpCloud's user interface, both for Administrator and User groups is simple and clean.
What do you dislike about the product?
While it's been challenging to find an MDM solution that accomplishes ALL our goals in one space, JumpCloud has the directory services we need. So now, we're working through migrating MDM or utilizing two services when the goal is a single integrated solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Identity management without an AD server in our Mac/Linux organization as we prepare to double the number of people connected and capable of working remotely through 2021.

We are still on the cusp of refactoring our testing to evaluate JumpCloud as the complete identity and MDM solution, but testing takes time and planning. What's been great is having minimal to zero impact on user productivity following updates to JumpCloud managing the identity.

Works well in a nonprofit environment.

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jumpcloud helps us centralise our authentication and authorization systems reducing our administrative load.
What do you dislike about the product?
The costs can be high for a nonprofit especially when planning for seasonal changes in the amount of users we have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reduces the work required to onboard and offboard employees/volunteers.

Infrastructure-less Active Directory

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We don't need to maintain any servers or software other than installing the JumpCloud client on our Windows, Mac, and Linux machines. This makes deploying user access very easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
JumpCloud has a lot of features and is starting to compete with some other vendors we use in the computer management space. Might have to jump all in with JumpCloud at some point.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JumpCloud helps us solve user account creation and access issues. Single Sign-on/LDAP for internal and external apps. We have dabbled with RADIUS, but haven't implemented yet. Love how easy it is to bring on new users with our company or remove access when it is no longer needed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look at working with your third party vendor to get better than list price.

Good tool to start with for a growing organisation

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
- Jumpcloud is very simple to use.
- It supports Mac, Linux, and Windows. Great for a company that is looking to use it across the company on many computers.
- Centralised management helps in making sure that you have total control over what is running and whatnot.
What do you dislike about the product?
- Interface can sometimes be slow and unresponsive

Nothing besides that. It is easy to use and effective.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Centralized policy management for the laptops was a big hassle and Jumpcloud helped in solving that not only for Macs but also for Windows and Linux all from one single console which was a big win for us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
- Really good when you are starting up and need to meet compliance requirements.
- When you have a small team and tons of things to manage, this will be the right tool to start with and you can always expand to include more no. of your users.
- Do check the price before rolling it out to everyone, it might come as a shock at some point of time
- Buy only the features you plan to use. They have a lot of features which you might never plan to use.

Recommended for all companies which are planning to start centralised management and who are looking for quick compliance.

LDAP as a service

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fast and easy setup. We have been ready to go in minutes.
Jumpcloud is just a service we consume, without the hassle to own it.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing we really dislike, but we are just using LDAP, wich is one targeted feature among a rich offering, so maybe what we do with JumpCloud is not representative of what usually other users do, and we never had the opportunity to find any downside..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Due to a software limitation, we had no other option than LDAP to authenticate external users and we were looking at something super easy to implement.
Since it is cloud based, we saved the time to setup a proper environment for Identity Management. In the context we have been working, alternative would have been to setup a Microsoft Active Directory that would have required a dedicated VM, and then to link it to Oracle Cloud Identity Management. This is a way we explored and we found out that not only the one time cost for implementation was important with a tricky setup, but there was also the running cost of one additional VM for hosting the Active Directory.
Finally, with JumpCloud, we save implementation time and recurring cost. It simply works.
New users are setup in minutes, they are self-sufficient for managing for reseting their password, we never had to spend even one minute to support them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't hesitate to leverage on the JumpCloud Free offering which allows you to test drive all functionnalities for a small number of users. This is what we did for our POC. Next step for us was to move to a paid accound and we were ready to go.

Great tool and very affordable

  • February 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to get started, well documented and fair pricing gives me the time to learn the platform before adding customers
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes installing the client and connecting can have issues
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Some industries require strong logins and have guidelines around user authentication. Implementing JC with Google has simplified user management without incurring excessive costs
