Used as a supplemental tool for our CMMS and project management systems
What do you like best about the product?
Parent children relationships and automated functions as well as automated reminders and notices.
What do you dislike about the product?
There can be a steep learning curve especially if you are not proficient in Excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creates an organized base to work from and combines the properties of a spreadsheet with automated notifications and document storage.
Great Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is brilliant if you want to collaborate with other colleagues and clients outside of the business. The accessibility and being able to work on the sheets at the same time just provides a flexibility that's often needed. The columns on the sheets also have brilliant features, being able to choose your column type and use a tick box, a date, etc. They allow you to create an easy to use document.
What do you dislike about the product?
The dashboarding features are extremely limited and don't interact with each other. Often I want to create dashboards to display client information or to show trends appearing throughout the projects and they're unable to interact with them. You can't apply filters or really change your viewing. It's very limited but it great for a basic page and non-skilled users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Samrtsheets allows us to manage permissions and collaboration directly. It allows us to store all information in one location by being able to attach files and link to other sheets as well as having the ability to comment on certain columns to ask questions and solve problems.

Next step up from Exel with more bells and whistles

Would be hard to use for anyone without exel experience

What do you like best about the product?
It is a good tool for sharing tables and gantt charts. I like an ability to switch in between tables and charts in the same file. Great to have live updated dashboard capability.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found that formulas are not always the same as in excel and it takes time to figure out how to use it. Gantt charts are limited with no resource management incorporated in base version. Adding this feature takes a lot of time and cost money. Without that it has a limited capability for managing projects. Another limitation is inabbility to see a file list if it is not shared with you. I would suggest to have a shareable file directory (for a company)

Love the flexibility but wish for more attractive user interface (like Monday.com)
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to build and interactive system. We use forms and dashboards to run out business.
What do you dislike about the product?
There aren't many color or graphic widget options. We have reviewed Monday.com and love the look of their sheets and dashboards. Also, there is a bug that causes the rows in a sheet to reorganize wildly when more than one person is in the sheet. I've submitted the issue but I get back unhelpful answers. Wish this could be solved as it's a sheet we use to track our schedule (has lots of dependencies) and accessed by our leadership team

Dashboards show sales and production how we are doing as a company and as individuals. Forms allow us to easily collect information from field staff. Reports do many things - my favorite is creating unified to do lists
Great System, need some work on small processes
What do you like best about the product?
The upsides of using smartsheet are that it does make workflows easier, accessing the notes is a good tool to have. You are able to call out certain people throughout the smartsheet.
What do you dislike about the product?
The formatting is sometimes hard to read. Some of the buttons have full effect on the smarthseet and that gets frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping with scheduling for commercial and residential jobs.
Good, but lacking in critical features.
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet does a great job with basic spreadsheet tasks. The commenting, attachment, and other such features make collaboration very easy. There are a lot of extra features, such as Document Builder and Forms that make getting data and exporting data easy and useful. Building forms that are easy to grok for your basic end user is simple and intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
The automation portion of Smartsheet, while useful, is also very limited. There's no way to see previous runs on an automation, so you can't verify that something was sent correctly. It requires the use of workarounds, you have to send yourself an email as part of the automation, or create an extra column to check off when it runs, that sort of thing. Our organization is slowly changing over to Sharepoint and PowerApps, as our automation needs are greater than what Smartsheet can provide.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been able to translate some old analog processes into Smartsheet workflows, which makes tracking and collaborating on things like timesheet submissions and time off requests much easier to manage.
Smartsheet is good tool for schedules.

The schedule is easy to create and updated.

It should have a glossary for formulas, explaining how to use them.

What do you like best about the product?
It is really straightforward due to the Excel likeness, this enables many people who previously worked with Excel to adapt to Smartsheet. Adding to that, the basic project management capabilities are all present and user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The way of working with rows and colums makes it less customizable than i would like. This makes it less appetizing for new team members to adapt Smartsheet, since the improvement from Excel isnt immediately clear.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating a standard way of working by creating a fixed template. This excludes people taking their own approach and Smartsheet makes it easy to gain an overview regarding the project portfolio and communicate certain tasks or responsibilities to other team members
Key to Large Team Collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
My current project is a joint venture which means we have two separate companies trying to collaborate while working within separate company silos. Smartsheet has provided a simple place to come together and provide visibility to everyone involved.
What do you dislike about the product?
More levels of permission and access would be nice.

Collaboration platform between two companies for financials, document management, workflows, etc
