I use Smartsheet for project planning/reporting, using its dashboard and automated messaging feature
What do you like best about the product?
I like the best that non-licensed users can access and make updates to the sheets and dashboards so that a team of about 6-7 can be supported by one license.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is difficult to grasp in the beginning. So, a lot of specific training is required to understand how it operates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps me to assign tasks, track progress and get reports easily. This helps me avoid too many emails, save time, and drive transparency and accountability within the team.

What do you dislike about the product?
It is not uder friendly. It is hard to use many functions unles you know what are doing or have a helping hand to guide you. Hard to share with non-useres due to lask of knowledge with sysem.

How to enter data form diffrent useres and data sources.

I like the automation features; I like the forms and the automatic emails.

I don't like that it is not fully accessible, and because of that, my agency is now rethinking its useability.

It helps with the post-meeting questionnaires and training.
It has been easy at first, but with all the new updates, it gets more complicated to use for basics

No Live-Update/ Concurrent Update Feature in Smartsheets
What do you like best about the product?
There are a lot of features that I do not truly utilize and its a shame, because it would be great to use. We mostly use Smartsheets for program schedules and sharing out said program schedules. In my past life (Meta) we used it for program scheduling as well.
The UI is clean and the typography is simple. It feels like a fresh/modern take on program scheduling software.

What do you dislike about the product?
No live/autoupdate or concurrent updating. In the past, my experience with Smartsheet has been mostly "read" the program schedule with some light to modest updating the schedule as needed. The Smartsheet was owned by the Program Manager. However, currently our organization does not have dedicated PM's, so much of the program schedule is overseen, but not managed direclty by someone. This leaves us with 2+ people working through a program schedule on Smartsheets. It is frustrating to see that another user has the Smartsheet open, but cannot see changes occur live onscreen. Insteading waiting to either save (in hopes of not undoing the others' work) or reloading after hoping the other users are done.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Single source of truth for program scheduling. It allows the our planning, and various engineering functions look at a single source to know the milestones and (ever shrinking) timelines.

Smartsheets helps to organize and keep track of project tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is sometimes difficult to know what functions are available on Smartsheets and how to use them properly. Also found some functions that are missing which would have been very helpful for our purposes.

We have many projects and it was hard to track all of the tasks for each.
Transforming Internal Comms with Smartsheet
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Smartsheet is that it is adaptable. I think most people look at spreadsheets and think numbers, but with customization, automation, and a few videos, you can organize and manage many kinds of projects. For instance, the Internal Comms department processes. Before I built our Smartsheet dashboards, we operated on a sheet in Microsoft Excel. Tracking stories, publication dates, and projects was incredibly difficult because we didn't have an intuitive editorial calendar. Once I created our editorial calendar, it allowed us to see communication across individual channels, see long-term and upcoming due dates via Gantt calendars, organize campaign messages, and create workflows we didn't have before. I also love that you can make front-facing forms. I designed our editorial calendar and dashboard, and I wanted to make them easy for my colleagues to use. Forms made that possible. They don't need to understand every detail of the sheets to use them. Instead, they can go to a very easy-to-use form to submit information. Additionally, pushing content from one main sheet to other sheets and reports really helped us with basic things like what needs to be published in this week's newsletter and cross-checking information across channels.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some small things that would be useful for someone like me who uses this for content tracking and organization. One example is when I add hyperlinks, the sheet no longer sorts items correctly by date. For some reason, hyperlinking the main column creates an issue where we can no longer see dates in correct ascending or descending order. Another would be the ability to separate parent and child rows when pushing them to another sheet. You can move the parent row by itself or the parent and child rows together. It would be great to be able to separate these items from each other in a fast and simple way so we can choose which child rows to display and move them independently of the parent row. This is not an issue on our main sheet but becomes problematic when we need to manipulate information on another sheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping to streamline and organize a ton of content across multiple channels. With a small team, we can easily drown in the requests and due dates, especially if we don't have a centralized place to keep organized. Smartsheet allowed us to create a main editorial calendar and automate content onto different calendar sheets depending on what channel it will be posted on. It was a gamechanger. It's so much easier to just visually keep track of information when you can do conditional formatting or automate columns to remove themselves once you check an archive button. It also ensures we can collaborate on a document/s all at the same time and SEE in real time what is being added and through which channel.

when creating forms, not every field is customazible to what I would be using for. For example, it is hard to create date ranges in forms.

It is solving collabration problems. Easy to access online. Great phone app.
