What do you like best about the product?
Real time collaborative tool and the assignment feature/reminders

You can't have multiple tabs like excel in a sheet.

Lots of functionality. Ability to collaborate with others on the tool. Colorful and attractive reports.

Difficult to use, manage and organize. Difficult to implement and to keep updated. Not easy to integrate with email and other products. Difficult to use.

Used to track complex programs and collaborating with different teams to maintain activities.
Smartsheet makes work easier
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to organize into different sheets and categories, and I like having the gridded versus gantt views. I like how easy it is to add lists for labelling different resources.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is difficult to put start and end dates that are on weekends without significantly changing the sheet. I also cannot figure out how to customize the text for the resource label on the gantt chart view. This makes it too small to see when printed or used on a PowerPoint and I have to add an additional column with larger text to say the same thing so it's legible.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartsheet primarily for the Gantt chart view so that I can see where resources are allocated and where there might be problematic overlap. I like the visuals that Smartsheet offers better than just trying to figure it out from an Excel sheet.
Great Collaboration Tool, but Lacks Intuitiveness
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is good at facilitating collaboration across teams. It allows you to track tasks, manage projects, and provide clear visibility of everyone's progress. The ability to share sheets and provide real-time updates ensures everyone stays on the same page, making it easier to work with colleagues, clients, and partners. The integration with other tools is also a big plus, helping streamline workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Smartsheet is a robust tool, it’s not the most intuitive platform to use, especially for beginners. The interface can feel overwhelming at first, and there’s a steep learning curve when it comes to navigating its various features. Some functionalities feel hidden or not immediately accessible, which can slow down the user experience. Additionally, Smartsheet lacks an auto-save feature, unlike other cloud-based tools like MS Teams or SharePoint. This means you need to manually save your work, which can be a bit frustrating and increases the risk of losing progress if you forget.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps track progress of variety of tasks easily. I don't like that it sits in a different place and I can't aggregate it to my project sharepoint, so it feels isolated from the rest of the project artifacts, but it helps drive collaboration across different teams.

Minimizes busy work when managing product certification projects and testing. Can work on information with mutliple people without having to share documents back and forth

- Hierarchy management is frustrating and limiting. Automations are limited in the value-add they bring because automating parent-child relationships to accelerate manual updates is very limited, or ressource heavy.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Assignment management and semi-automatic status updates
It does the job well, but it could be better.
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful feature in smartsheet has been the auto generated notification when a cell is changed in a work book. We use it to track projects and agreements, so the notifications help trigger a process once they're set to complete.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no live collaboration settings for meetings. For example, if I wanted to have a virtual white board session, there isn't a format on smartsheet that allows for this. People's statuses/input get removed or written over depending on how theyare saved.

Allowing a range of viewers from multiple organizations to track the status of projects in real time.
I used Smartsheets effectively in the past , but now find its user interface outdated

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is a great collaboration tool that was implemented within our organization very quickly. It is easy to use and a person can be very productive with minimal training hours. The use of templates can promote consistency in your PMO office. Smartsheet has been integrated with systems such as Jira, SAP and Power BI with automations and connectors. Tools such as DataMesh make tasks much simpler. We began with 25 users and now have over 300 people in Smartsheet daily.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet sharing for Guests outside of our organization is a security concern for our company. Customer support sometimes takes days to respond and/or resolve issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet has solved information accessibilty, project management and work management for our company. Teams are able to collaborate on projects and share key information to streamline tasks.
Being an online tool the ease of sending notifications to external contractors in particular
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of setting up notifications. Being able to have user who are not fully licensed still being able to view informaiton ensures that data integrity can be mantained by avoid accidental changes to information. This is something users use often and is intutive in design inclduing being able to use color coding to highlight key information it is also a bonus conditional statements can be used to control colour coding. The customer support team are happy to allow us to use the system as we wish but are on hand if we need, there is no push to do things in a certain way, increase users etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
The limitations of being able to copy and paste 500 lines only is a huge disavatnage and slows down some of our data update process. This is partially due to the data provider not providing a useable API to allow us to create a live integration with the data however if we could copy even 1000 rows at a time it would be a huge increase in usability and could cause the implementation uses to increase.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notifications to contractors when certifcations expire, this has hugely increase our compliance in this space and helps to put the ownership back on the contrator to make sure we have up to date documentation for them/ their business.
