Smartsheet is good but has limited functionality for automations
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet makes it easy to organize projects by tasks and department.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet does not have functionality to create sheets from an automation which would reduce the management of it significantly. Currently, it is very time consuming to keep up with everything our company has within smartsheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It keeps all tasks within a workflow in one area that allows users to see where they fit into the process.
Good For Forms
What do you like best about the product?
I do like the more easiness of creating forms for others to fill out, it allows me to better ability.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not a fan of the sheet portion as it is a bit harder to manipulate like I would in Excel.

They have helped me by being easier to gather information by making other answer the questions

Sorting features and a lack of resources for the training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Daily/Weekly reminder for the task updates. Cross-linked functionality with proprietary software. Some of the Smartsheet forms, which we were able to link with the existing tracker format, eliminated the need for separate files and manual tracking. By implementing Smartsheet forms, as soon as the client fills out the online request form, all the information is automatically transferred to the tracker. This has significantly reduced manual work, and everything is now automated.
Smartsheets for Business
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheets has the ability to be able to be used somewhat as an API, we have lots of integrations at our workplace which looks at areas of some smartsheets that allows us to pull information quickly. These integrations are to things like Zendesk, New Relic and Grafana which we use on a almost hourly basis everyday to actively monitor parts of the business.
What do you dislike about the product?
The downsides of using Smartsheets is the same as using another tool like Excel, you need to be aware of what exactly your intending to use it for. If your looking for an enhanced version of Excel that is cloud accessible to hold some information or track progress thats great! However if you looking to store vasts amount of data and record tracking like for instance a data set of records or something, then this falls short just like excel compared to a database.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Smartsheets to hold a data set of all our assets that we deploy in the field, this is benefiting us as its a cheaper and argueably easier alternative to creating and maintaining a database.
A Powerful Collaboration Tool with Room for Improvement in Visualization and Permissions
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is an excellent tool for managing cross-functional initiatives and capturing real-time data. I particularly value its survey and form creation capabilities, which allow our team to collect input, track participation, and assess engagement for ongoing functions and pilot projects. I was especially impressed by the tool’s ability to configure a customized metrics and assessment dashboard that supports reporting and visibility across multiple business units and stakeholders.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Smartsheet excels in data collection and tracking, it falls short in visualizing survey responses. Unlike Google Forms, it does not provide automatic graphs, charts, or summary visualizations of form responses, which would be incredibly helpful for quick analysis and reporting. Additionally, the layered permission structure can be cumbersome—especially when trying to enable interns or temporary team members to make simple edits. The access management process feels unnecessarily complex for collaborative environments.

Powerful but expensive
What do you like best about the product?
The collaboration abilities of Smartsheet is very helpful when dealing with contractors, vendors, and installers. The fact that they do not have to pay for Smartsheet and can still collaborate with my project managers is huge for our business.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet has changed, forcing more paid licenses to get things done. And those changes are very expensive. Smartsheet is the most expensive software my small company pays for and nice tools that Smartsheet adds are only available if we pay a whole lot more. I think we are with our 4th or 5th account representative. They try to be helpful, but the lack of consistency with the account representative has led to confusion, broken promises, and changes that have led me to think hard about moving to another platform. I have personally worked with a huge University that was adopting Smartsheet by the hundreds of staff only to see them pull back and cancel many of those licenses because of the increased expense and constant changes in what those licenses could do.

Collaboration with contractors, vendors, installers. Collaboration with major Universities that we work with.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that its cloud based easy accessible and I can link via DNS to excel & Power BI
What do you dislike about the product?
Looks a little bit out of date and not quite as slick as Excel

Having all users using the same platform and being able to draw down the data

What do you like best about the product?
I like the simplicity of Smartsheet and how it closely resembles Excel but is a little more sophisticated. The clear visuals and sheet to sheet integrations is a great plus as well. I always have a smartsheet up and running on my browser due to how often we integrate with the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside to the platform is the need to input complicated workarounds for some seemingly simple operations. I was introduced to the notion of helper columns where I needed to categorize my data to display on a report a specific way. It would be nice if the report generation feature had the "helper column" ability.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is helping us automate manual governance workflows across different areas of the system. It also has helped us develop repeatable project mangement templates for the teams to use.
