Success with SmartSheet
What do you like best about the product?
Overall, I have enjoyed the use of Smartsheet compared to other Project Management tools. Managing a project timeline and tracking resource time is straight forward.
What do you dislike about the product?
However, the complexity of setting up projects and automated notifications is difficult to understand and accomplish. Additionally, when setting project timeline templates changes and updates to the template cannot be published retroactively. At the beginning of using SmartSheet, its a learning process which often results in changes being made to timeline templates which are already in use. Updating those active projects is time consuming.

Its versatility. The tool makes information easy to find and accessible, with a wide range of options and settings that allow it to adapt easily to specific needs

Smartsheet helps us store and organize data, track historical records, manage tasks, and monitor deadlines effectively. It centralizes all project information, making collaboration easier and ensuring nothing falls through the cracks

What do you like best about the product?
Very useful navigation and creation of plans with Gant charts
What do you dislike about the product?
Indent function is not user freindly sometiems it takes to much rows or it needs some additional effort to select

It is good for showing Time scale of diffrent project tasks
Easy to add detail but can be hard to follow for clients
What do you like best about the product?
There are many options to add different work tracks and deliverables that are easily identifiable within the sheet.For example, using different colours for different stakeholders, showing progress, and highlighting statuses of progress.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find that content update is very manual, it takes me more time than previously working in gantt. I also find that there is a lot of information, which is difficult for my clients to absorb.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborating with stakeholders to create clear timelines for projects, one space to hold different timelines for project workstreams.
Great tool for collaboration, but a bit antiquated
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet makes it easier for team members to collaborate and for us to share reports or dashboards with external clients. It's easier to import sheets so that existing plans don't have to be created from scratch and likewise export to other tolls.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is a bit antiquated, and the dashboards or more sophisticated reports require a lot input that can be time consuming to put together.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheets is most beneficial to tracking high-level program statuses for our internal stakeholders with views that are shareable externally with clients.

Great for Established Companies
What do you like best about the product?
It makes Excel much more user-friendly. For those who aren’t Excel experts, it’s easier to understand and use. Once set up, the dashboards and graphics are great for presentations and are especially helpful for visual learners. It was easy for our staff to get on board and see the value.
What do you dislike about the product?
One limitation of Smartsheet is that it could benefit from more templates and greater flexibility within some of the sheets. This would make it easier to customize and adapt to a variety of companies. Smartsheet seems better suited for larger, more established companies that require frequent collaboration. For smaller companies like ours, where collaboration is minimal, there’s often a need for more detailed, tailored solutions.

Develop a version or mode tailored for individual users or small teams where collaboration is minimal but data management and reporting are key.

Helps organize many detailed projects
What do you like best about the product?
Most helpful is being able to organize and share Sheets with varied permissions with external users. The comment/attachment and color coding is very helpful. Being able to create a template Workspace and cloning it is very easy and repeatable.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do a lot of rearranging so being able to more easily drag and drop Grids / reports/folders would be very helpful. I also dislike some options only being available from some places. For example, I can rearrange the folder if I click out to view all workspaces, but not when i'm within the folder. Same with updating the Workspace colors and logos. I can only do that by clicking right in the Workspace high level view.

We use Smartsheet to organize our projects to implement our loan origination software.
Great way to automate workflows!
What do you like best about the product?
The excel feel and functionality is a friendly aspect of Smartsheet. I think it makes the platform approachable but what makes it really special is its ability to automate notifications or data off of the forms or sheets that you have created.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like what feels like random limitations of the platform. For example, there is a row limit or if you are the owner of the sheet you get responses from people who reviewed an automation from your sheet. These are just examples of how randomly the system feels outdated even though it can connect to your data warehouse.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to use data from other platforms and bring them into Smartsheet, this way our teams do not have to Frankenstein multiple sources to get access to what they need.
Gets the job done
What do you like best about the product?
I feel like Smartsheets is a much more user friendly, yet still robust, step up from Excel. It was fairly easy to learn how to use, and also appreciate that it is web-based, so I can use it on the go - whether on my work laptop, or to quickly access something off hours. My company mainly uses Smartsheet for collaboration, as well as organizing, keeping track, and managing tasks and projects. I can be as simple or complicated as necessary.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like certain functions to be more readily available or accessible, such as formulas, row/column organization, ect. The formatting is straight forward, but some of the other more used functions could be more front and center.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheet for what feels like everything. Not only do we use it for Project Management, but we also use if for collaboration, housing documentation and workflows, and even various tasks and timelines. It's allowing us to have everything organized in one system, that is easy to share across teams and departments.
