Useful, but has it's shortcomings

  • March 14, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is similar to the style of excel with line items. I also really enjoy the forms feature so that you can easily collect data and it feeds directly into your sheet.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although it has that excel style format in the sheet, there aren't any of those useful features added to smart sheet, like the ability to move cells over more flexibly. Sometimes the platform seems a little too rigid compared to other platforms I've used in the past. For instance, something as simple as not automatically saving work as you go is not the best. Having to physically press the save button to make sure work is being captured is cumbersome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It keeps the team organized and all project details in one place. The forms feature allows the team to capture specific data and have it organized easily without fuss.

Powerful tool for collaboration. Highly customizable

  • March 14, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The collaboration and proofing tools are generally quite good. I like that you can have ongoing conversations with stakeholders in the comments on a given proof.
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't set up our Smartsheets instance, so I don't know how complicated it is to work with, but from my perspective, it seems like you might need some advanced knowledge/programming background to do some of the more complex things.

Notifications can be difficult to manage. Some members of my team forget or neglect to tag their team members who need to be informed, so even the owner of the proof may miss feedback that was meant for them to see.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheets tracks ongoing projects and helps us connect related projects. It provides transparency among stakeholders, as we can always see what communication is happening around a project.

Some Utility...

  • March 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Several functions are easier to use than Microsoft Excel, such as the ability to more easily create collapsible categories, tag people, and useful columns (e.g., duration).
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I ask myself how Smartsheets is better than Microsoft Excel. Yes, Smarthseets is more easily used (on the face of it), but for an experienced Excel user, I find it more challenging to use because I can't use the same accelerators.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking projects and their deadlines in a central location. I think some automations could provide more value, but I don't know how to use them currently and haven't bothered to learn because I'm uncertain how much value it would bring.

Robust, but not userfriendly

  • March 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Smartshee has a lot of great capabilities. The functionality I most appreciate is being able to see different views (grid, gantt, calendar) and being able to notify people when a task is due.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet is not very userfriendly. I find the interface to be a bit clunky, which makes me often opt for simpler, less robust task management platforms. If Smartsheet were to be a bit sleeker and easier to use, I would recommend it far more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team has a variety of programs and projects running at once. Smartsheet allows us to see everything upcoming and assign more specific tasks to our larger 'to dos.'

Smartsheet is a powerful tool to schedule between several projects as well as track financials

  • March 13, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
SmartSheet does a great job of allowing several projects to schedule resources and be able to de-conflict any overscheduled resources. It also is good to track qualifications for each individual and allows you to upload certificates directly to the sheet for tracking. Very useful for safety certifications and allows the PM to download and show the client their team's certifications easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
You can develop a detailed plan and schedule with the sheet. If the sheet is not created in a calendar date format, it can be difficult to see the flow of the plan and it does not shift the view to see a flow chart. Additionally, the resource conflict indication is great, but it would be better to list the rows that conflicted in each project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our greatest use of this product is for resource management and rough financial flow tracking. As our company grows, the resource management becomes more challenging and difficult.

Free for basic use but not so intuitive

  • March 11, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's free - if you need basic project management then this is an ideal tool. Cloud based means you can collaborate with colleagues and there's no searching around on drives to find your project.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not as flexible as MS Project - doesn't handle concurrent tasks particularly well and you have to do a lot of wrangling with dates and build in slip to allow things to overlap, otherwise it tries to align all tasks to a single start date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project planning across multiple Healthcare trusts - collaboration is a must. This cloud based solution means we're not tied to a single domain and can aid in planning between departments.

A good product with lots of useful features

  • March 09, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has been a helpful tool for our team overall. It has some great features beyond a typical spreadsheet application. I like receiving notifications when changes are made to sections assigned to me, and it's great that you can add attachments and comments to each row.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many of my colleagues find Smartsheet overwhelming, so it has been challenging to get everyone on board. I initially felt the same way, but I have learned enough about it to make it work for my needs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to keep everyone on the same page on multiple projects. Smartsheet allows us to assign rows to specific people and send notifications when changes are made. It is a central location where we can store information and track progress.

A powerful and customizable Project Management App with a steep learning curve

  • March 07, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the standout features of Smartsheet is its customizable interface. Users can create and modify different sheets and templates to fit their specific needs, and the drag-and-drop functionality makes it easy to move items around and adjust layouts.

Smartsheet also offers a variety of collaboration tools, including the ability to share sheets with team members, set reminders and alerts, and track changes in real time. The app also integrates with other popular tools, such as Slack and Google Drive, making it easy to incorporate Smartsheet into existing workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
However, while Smartsheet has many strengths, there are also some limitations to be aware of. For example, the app can be somewhat complex and overwhelming for new users, and it may take some time to get up to speed on all the features and functionality.

Additionally, while the app offers a free trial, the pricing for Smartsheet can be on the higher side compared to other project management tools on the market. This may be a drawback for small teams or those with limited budgets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet solves several common problems that arise in project management, including:

- Lack of organization: Smartsheet helps teams stay organized by providing a central platform to track tasks, deadlines, and progress.

- Poor communication: The app offers a variety of collaboration tools, including the ability to share sheets with team members and track changes in real time, which helps improve communication and reduce misunderstandings.

- Inefficient workflows: Smartsheet offers customizable templates and workflows that can be tailored to specific projects, helping teams streamline their processes and work more efficiently.

- Limited visibility: With Smartsheet, team members can easily view project timelines, milestones, and progress reports, which helps ensure everyone is on the same page and has a clear understanding of the project's status.

Smartsheet is a robust solution for specific project management applications

  • March 06, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is relatively easy to use if the user is familiar with Excel. The ability to toggle between grid and card views is helpful. Access via the Smartsheet mobile app is an essential feature I use regularly. I suspect that I haven't had the opportunity to explore all of Smartsheet's functionality and appreciate that there are plenty of tutorials available for me to view when the time comes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface needs improvement to make Smartsheet use more intuitive. Functionality is a little clunky (e.g., providing others access to certain information and/or functionality is unclear). The ability to customize colors and fonts is limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartsheet primarily as a priority-setting and task-tracking tool. Smartsheet also provides a way for me to track RSVPs and guest preferences for small-medium-sized events (30-70 attendees).

Smartsheet is a practical tool for managing tasks across a team.

  • March 02, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how it's similar to excel - it's easy to filter and to assign tasks to different members of your team and they can receive push notifications for upcoming due dates.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I find it difficult to add additional tasks and make subgroups. Overall, Smartsheet's interface is very simple and easy to learn, but I do not find it easy to group tasks together. It could be more visually appealing and/or offer users different ways to view the data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps my team of 4 manage tasks and projects throughout the fiscal year. It keeps us organized and stay on top of our deadlines. At the end of the year, we analyze our data through the data visualization feature.
