What do you like best about the product?
I love the AI Writing Assistant. In every meeting I'm attending or leading now, I will turn on the AI feature and feel so much safer not to miss anything. It provides excellent summary of meeting notes, and a action list with check boxes. Best thing ever!
What do you dislike about the product?
The complexity of this software still presents a steep learning curve for me. At the moment, I feel like I'm only making use of about 10% or even less of its capabilities. However, I'm making progress and gradually getting there!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This tool ensures I don't miss any details from meetings that last over two hours and involve lively discussions.

Versatile but Complex: Notion's Learning Curve Demands Guidance

  • October 02, 2025

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how Notion has become a central hub for our organization, allowing us to bring in clients and remain organized. Its versatility in handling project management, communications, proposal writing, and document creation is impressive. The ability to cover so much and do so much within one program makes it very appealing. The database feature for proposal and document writing, along with sharing pages with clients, is extremely useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
I found the initial setup of Notion very challenging as I had difficulty figuring out what to do and how to use it. This complexity was to the point that I had to hire a Notion consultant to help build our initial system and get set up. I would like Notion to be more user-friendly, especially for those who may not have the means or resources to hire a consultant.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion centralizes organization, enhances client engagement, and improves processes, aiding in project management, communication, and document creation.

What do you like best about the product?
This tool offers a wide range of functionalities and features that make it much easier for me to organize my schedule, manage tasks, and keep track of lecture notes, as well as plan my day. The AI has been especially helpful in lessening my workload when it comes to editing my writing. It can highlight the most important parts of my work and even help fill in missing information from my lecture notes.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's really nothing bad I can say about Notion. There's a but of a learning curve, but it doesn't take long to get a hang of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping with my organization, schedule creation, and saving me a lot of time and mental space.

Organization and operations streamlined

What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy the customization available in Notion to build what works best with your systems. I used Notion daily for everything in my business aspect and my personal life. It keeps me organized, on task and efficient but does require some discipline to keep the tool from becoming the project itself.
What do you dislike about the product?
My biggest complaint was not having offline access to my information. I haven't had any issues since the new features came out. My current issue is how I have to click the toggles for wide page text and small text everytime I create a new page. I wish there was a default setting for this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion keeps all my information in ONE place that is easily accessible and searchable.

I'm currently starting my digital marketing agency and running all my client and project management through Notion.

What do you like best about the product?
This platform serves as a single source of truth for my projects and provides a valuable space to store documents. Instead of having ideas lost in a maze of folders on Google Drive, every idea here is given equal importance when creating tasks and wikis.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am confused how Notion Mail and calendar realistically fit in to the ecosystem for google workspace users. I want to integrate fully, but there are features that just aren't there in either program.

I am not loving the AI agents ability so far to generate tasks from email - I cannot seem to find the correct wording and prompting for "search my email and generate a list of tasks". The results are often irrelevant (eg. respond to calendar event XXX from last week).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
with notion 3 I can now rapidly build out resource pages for new instructors who are trying to learn teaching concepts such as idea chunking, Flow state, and blooms taxonomy. The ability to perform many Instructional design tasks and face toward the client with the AI agent is a true and profound game changer.

What do you like best about the product?
I love how versatile it is - I can use it both professionally and personally easily, without mixing where things shouldn't be mixed. It keeps my team organized and on-task, and I love the AI meeting transcription and summaries.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is STEEP - it took me quite a while to get comfortable with it. Notion has decent guides, but I think more "quick start" tutorials, and more in-depth on how all the different components can talk to each other, would be hugely beneficial.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project organization and meeting transcription/notetaking

Knowledge Management

What do you like best about the product?
Notion has been a game-changer for managing projects, both simple and complex. The flexibility in structuring tasks, creating shared workspaces, and linking documentation makes it easy to keep everything in one place. I especially appreciate the ability to customize templates for recurring projects, track progress with databases and kanban boards, and centralize meeting notes alongside deliverables.

Collaboration is seamless—team members can comment directly on tasks or documents, which reduces back-and-forth emails. The integration with calendars and the ability to assign owners to tasks ensures accountability and keeps projects on track.

While there’s a bit of a learning curve for new users, once you understand how to use databases and relations, project management becomes much more efficient. Overall, Notion is an excellent tool for teams that want flexibility, transparency, and all-in-one project oversight.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Notion is extremely powerful, it does have a few drawbacks. The flexibility can be overwhelming for new users, and there’s a learning curve before you can fully take advantage of databases, relations, and advanced features. At times, performance can slow down with very large workspaces or databases. Offline functionality is also limited compared to other project management tools, which can be inconvenient when working without a stable internet connection.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion helps consolidate multiple tools into one centralized workspace. Instead of juggling separate apps for task management, documentation, knowledge bases, and project tracking, everything is connected and easy to access in Notion. This has streamlined collaboration across my team, reduced time spent searching for information, and improved accountability through task assignments and progress tracking. The flexibility of databases, templates, and dashboards allows me to adapt Notion to different projects without needing extra software. Overall, it saves time, reduces complexity, and keeps projects moving smoothly.
