Notion Whiz and Process Queen

  • February 14, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The upsides on using Notion is the ability to connect with teams/people - create a useful workspace and share information freely. I have a huge preference for Notion because it's highly customizable and feasible to create different pages and boards to share timelines and information.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish notifications had more robustness to it. If there were people tags in specific properties and any changes made to a ticket would notify the user it would be more preferred. Notifications in of itself is good, but there can be more functionality around this which would help work processes in our teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's helping us solve our processes for both product and project management. It's helping us organize our work for our distributed teams as our company is remote. I can easily track the work that is being completed with the new changes with Parent and Sub tasks as well as linking dependencies.

What do you like best about the product?
Love the keyboard shortcuts. Once you get used to using Notion, it's lightning-fast to use compared to Google Docs.
What do you dislike about the product?
We would love to use Notion to replace Asana. You definitely can. But if you are frequently assigning tasks, Asana can be easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion is a win for our whole team when it comes to SOP's. It's super simple to keep our SOP's updated and really fast to find things. The Notion Databases are also helping us to organize things such as props/wardrobe/contractors/equipment lists, etc.

Changed the way I manage my life

What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility. It allows me to create whatever view I want - I particularly value the tables.
The ease of use. There is a bit of a learning curve, but once you learn how to use it it's super simple.
The community. The notion community is growing so fast meaning that there is a template for almost anything!
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the tables had more features. I have essentially replaced excel for most functions, but still some things are missing. Like for example I haven't found good ways to make nice graphs. I would also LOVE it if there's a better way to manage the calendar. It's currently a bit chunky.
I also know that there's a million different integrations but I'm not sure how to use them and it requires looking into specific options. It would be great if you could share tailored recommendations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1 - centralizing information. I use notion for my own personal organizations, in addition to managing projects.
2 - note taking. What an incredibly powerful note taker! So simple to use when other note taking apps are just old school.
3 - database management. The ease of use of tables is so straightforward. The alternative used to me spreadsheets or documents and instead this is just a beautiful combination

What do you like best about the product?
As a startup with a newly formed team, I had to find the right platform to get operationalized and migrate all knowledge and processes out of my head and into a system to create an intranet, place for collaboration, and manage projects and productivity.
What do you dislike about the product?
it takes time to effectively build a workspace. I've had to put in a lot of effort and utilize a lot of templates to design the workspace for my organization. I would also like to see integration from Google and Microsoft, so it can interpret meetings, docs, etc, now that there is an AI component
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Operations
Collaboration
Workflow Management
Project Management
Progress Evaluation
Productivity Insights
CRM Development and relational databasing
Activity Traction

I can see progress, productivity, take notes, and effectively plan

Notion changed my life

  • February 14, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
It's the best personal organization tool there is. No competition gets close. It's neat, simple to start using, yet complete in features.
I like how everything can be connected, searched for, mentioned etc. The hierarchy structure is awesome too. One of the latest features I liked the most was the sub-item and parent-item in databases.
What do you dislike about the product?
1) Slow to load. It's getting better, but I'm used to faster apps on Windows and Android.
2) No offline access: there's no way to choose pages to keep offline on your phone. It's also getting better, but many apps already allow offline editing, saving, etc.
3) No automations. The first automation came very recently, with the recurring templates. But some IFs and THENs would be a great addition to the databases. In Trello that is very easy to do. ClickUp has been showing off that feature on their ads too. I think it's time for Notion to catch up with the features of its competitors.
4) Sometimes I experience bugs when writing fast on Android. I think Notion tries to sync everything in real time and then I experience some lagging issues. The last words disappear for no reason.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Notion for everything in my life. Everything is there. Personal projects, notes, references, task list, documentation, catalogs...
It has solved every organization problem I had. Now I put all my notes in Notion and can easily find them. I can mention them in other pages, structure them in a database etc.
Every planning I have to do I do in Notion too.

Sometimes I need to use Google Sheets and Forms too, so I embed them in Notion, so I don't have to leave the platform at all.

Unrivalled all-in-one productivity platform for anyone

  • February 14, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It makes creating, viewing and collaborating on content and tasks easy. It's like multiple platforms boiled into one, with a very generous free plan.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's so much you can do that it could become addictive and distract you from getting work done.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I work with several clients and use Notion as a knowledge hub and task planner. This helps me and my team act and respond fast, as nothing gets lost in email or Slack.

Amazing tool, still with loads to offer!

What do you like best about the product?
The way it centralises information from all areas. Makes it easy to find documents and information while maintaining a level of professionalism. Can also be personalised
What do you dislike about the product?
The database system can be very clunky I find personally, and I also think that there are not enough options for data categories. Daya feels very trapped in the strict boundaries of database
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It keeps a journal and ledger of all activities of employees. Each employee finds it easy to use and has picked it up very easily, even the older ones who are mid technophobe!

Four words sum it up - couldn't live without it

What do you like best about the product?
I ignored Notion for a long time despite some good friends, who I trust, recommending it. I just didn't see what the fuss was. Turns out I was wrong (not for the first or last time). Its initial simplicity hides a lot of features - but at the same time, it's this same simplicity that makes it very easy to use. Like all great tools, it can do a lot more than most people use it for, but there aren't hundreds of options cluttering the interface and making you scared to use it. And when you need more advanced features, there are likely to be there and easily accessible. Clearly, a lot of thought has gone into Notion's UI/UX.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a great deal to dislike. There could do with adding webhooks (there is an API which is useful for many, me included, but it doesn't do everything and webhooks would really make it superb).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves the problem of having data all over the place (as much as any tool can). You can put almost any data into Notion. Whether you want to is up to you, but even when you put data in other applications, there's a huge range of embeddable options so you can probably display it in Notion. It's my goto store for data. From complicated projects to simple note taking. No more hundreds of text editor/notepad files left open with forgotten but important notes.

Amazing tool

What do you like best about the product?
Notion is very flexible. Once you know about the main features you can reproduce any basic business tool / process : Ticketing, calendar, CRM.
What do you dislike about the product?
It lacks some features competitors like coda have : buttons, integrations, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have built a system to manage my product management tasks and share the roadmap to the rest of the team. We also store the knowledge in notion. And I help other team members do the same for their own scopes (legal, brand & content, etc)

Capable sandbox for managing projects, organising knowledge and so much more

  • February 14, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Notion can be as simple as a repository of notes that can be enhanced with a number of 'block types', from weblink previews to code blocks to PDF embeds. Or it can be as complex as several relational databases that can be used with filters and sorts to only give you the context-specific content you want to see.
The pace of development recently has been great to see, with lots of little quality-of-life improvements but also some major improvements to how data can be handled and viewed.
What do you dislike about the product?
There could be a steep learning curve to setting up Notion, but that's mostly on the user since it can be as simple as you want it to be for the most part. Lack of offline access is annoying at times and a dealbreaker for some, and when databases get too large performance takes a hit. Exporting options aren't the best.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I mainly use Notion to manage my PhD, using a Notes database to dump anything from lab notes, reminders, meeting notes, resources, etc. that can then be categorised and filtered according to actionability and category. I also have a Projects database to keep track of all the different projects I have going on, which is linked to the Notes database. It removes the worry of "where do I put this", "where DID I put this", and gives me all content related to whatever I'm working on in one place.

I also use Notion for my personal life to manage the hundreds of articles and general content I read, to organise them into areas and resources that I can get back to when they're needed, and use them to start projects without the fear of a blank slate.
