Brain dump and note organization

  • November 25, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity and versatility of the solution, easy to add pages
Nice visual add on to create an environnement on each note (background and emoji) plus it selects it for me if i am to lazy or uninspired to do so.
There is web + a mobile app (iOS) that is good an i like to have a real bespoke desktop app too, this is my main way to input at the moment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some UX bugs when you try to go to fast because of the way it was thought to be used only with keyboard
HTML based model doesn't allow you to have all the flexibility you would want when writing notes
Not sure how i will be able to export all my notes and data the day i want to move to a new system
could use an API to fetch external data (from google sheets for example)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Replaces evernote and offers me a lot more in terms of sharing, collaborating and other type of data i can put on.
Does not fully replace trello at the moment, but can substitute for light version on smaller projects
bit by bit, becoming my go to app for note taking and organisation
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You need to try to see if it suits your needs because it is very versatile so hard to decide from marketing documents. (and free to try so no worries)

Love Notion as our wiki and for keeping track of notes

  • November 25, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The organization of Notion is incredible and makes creating a document fun, easy and convenient for sharing within the organization. The table & task feature is super logical and transfers well across different document sets. Finally the design is incredible and they make constant updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one part notion needs a big improvement on is on their tables. Right now we still rely on airtable and excel for anything that's a little more sophisticated with numbers. This is unfortunate since I would love to use notion for tables as well. The formulas are basic and hard to use. I know they'll figure this out eventually.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Internal wiki is the main one. We now have a central location where we keep track of all of our files and notes. We also use it to manage tasks since their tables make it easy to manage.

Great and versatile program for almost everything

  • November 24, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
If you get the hang of this program, you can do pretty much everything:
- note taking
- landing page building
- DB management
- agenda management
- calendar
you will be able to custom display your data or notes as well in different formations, such as table, lists, posts.
What do you dislike about the product?
one thing i found missing, is the fact that my needs for e-pen note taking (for my med school) are not supported using notion.
notion does not support pen input of sort, at least as far as im aware of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows me to build custom pages and templates for my note taking needs, and includes many options to do so.
it allows me to arrange my notes and data in tables, lists, etc.

Not only a note-taking app

  • November 06, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the fact that with Notion, now I can replace my note-taking app, todo app, calendar app and text editor and use just a one tool. Also as a developer I really like the fact that I can export my notes as .md file and use it a a readme file because I do not like to write readme in online interfaces. Last but definitely not least I love that Notion decided to get unlimited space to free users. Also "database" function is what I enjoy in my day to day basis.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really do not think of a single thig that I do not like about Notion. I was kind of scared when I installed mobile version (because of reviews on Google Play) but it is good experience overall and I use desktop version most of the time anyways.
The only thing is probably that there is a bit of learning curve to Notion but there always is with whatever piece of software when you want to become power-user and use all of the features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I wrote in previous section that thing that I really like about Notion is the fact that I can use it as my note-taking application and also I have started it using as my primary to-do application. Also in my professional carrer I am using Notion to write readme-s,...
Also what I do enjoy is database function or feature. So I have started to use this feature as my reading list. Most of the time I use Notion as a note-taking application and bacuse I am a student I use it a lot.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend Notion to anyone who is trying to find his or hers first note-taking application. One definitely can use apps like One Note, Evernote or even notepad, but Notion goes a extra mile and you can use it as todo application, write readmes and so much more so I would recommend to give it a shot.

Great tool that increased my own productivity significantly

  • October 20, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Notion is extremely versatile and allows the user to manage almost everything, from to-do lists to literature research, to recepies and much more. This means you basically need only one tool to track all productivity-related things in your life. Setting up the structure with individual pages and subpages means that you can easily add links and establish a wiki-like structure.
Also, Notion looks super beautiful and this enhances the user experience significantly.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you want to insert files all of them need to be uploaded to the cloud. This is good, because it means that everything is available on all your devices but it sometimes makes the app slow and means you cannot just upload huge amounts of data.
On mobile devices the complexity can get a little bit overwhelming and it is quite difficult to use. This, however, is not a problem when using notion on a notebook or desktop.
This complexity also means notion is quite difficult to use in the beginning.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project tracking, literature research and private finances. It is just an awesome to use one tool for everything. The main benefit is clearly its versatility. Compared to other tools like OneNote you never end up with something you cannot sort properly in Notion. Whatever is on your mind can be on Notion.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
- Start simple and try to understand how to structure things such that you can get the most out of Notion. Don't use it if you don't like spending your time with making things look pretty.
