Excellent Video Call Software that Has Adapted Well
What do you like best about the product?
Since we are all getting our video call experience in these days, Zoom has held up well incorporating new, useful features like polling and easy screen share.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I go to "leave meeting", sometimes I click "end meeting for all" and shut everyone down :)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I don't have to commute all over the county for meetings wasting my valuable time and fuel.
Zoom is the industry standard but not the best with more complex needs like language interpretation
What do you like best about the product?
For the average meeting without any bells and whistles, it is fairly simple to use and people are familiar enough with it that they expect it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Zoom is the main platform I have been working on as a Spanish language interpreter. Tech support usually doesn't know how to handle it so we are on our own to troubleshoot. Some bothersome issues for end users:
-It is still confusing for end users not accustomed to interpretation when the feature gets enabled and the people who don´t need interpretation still experience, at times, loss of sound until they pick a channel. It has been time-consuming to educate clients, who are oftentimes not tech-savvy in handling issues like that. Once I am assigned as an interpreter, I don´t have an option to go to a main audio floor to be heard by everyone and make announcements. Yes, we can attribute that to user error, but we cannot blame everything on end users. I wish Zoom would run numbers to see how many people are relying on their interpretation feature to conduct multilingual meetings
-Incredibly, almost 3 years into the pandemic interpreters cannot hear each other when working in the same language. I know you have enabled a relay option but that takes so many steps, it is not practical when working as a team and we need to be switching back and forth.
-There should be a way to know how many people are listening to the interpretation channels. At the very least, the host should be able to see that.
-The chime every time a person enters a meeting should be by default silent and the user should choose to enable it and not the other way around. It gets painful for those of us who need to wear headsets to hear the chime all the time and we are not the host so we have no control over it.
-I wish there was a way for the sound quality to be better, I know a lot depends on the end user's system, but music still sounds awful even having audio engineer quality headsets.
-I wish there was an option to perhaps open chat in another window. For non-verbal people, chat is an essential tool to communicate. In meetings with a very active chat, it is hard to scroll up to review what was said.
-Breakout rooms should have interpretation available

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom is allowing for meetings to be conducted remotely so we don´t have to sit in traffic. Offering the interpretation feature has multiplied the opportunities for work.
Video calls and meetings made easy
What do you like best about the product?
With a simple click on a link you enter the meeting room, sometimes straight in or just a short wait in the waiting room. No matter where you are, you feel like part of the meeting due to the videos not having any lag.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think this is a dislike on Zoom, but rather video conferences in general. Talking over the top of each other is much more common compared to an in person meeting.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We started using Zoom even before the pandamic. We have zoom rooms in our office and it makes meetings a breeze - invite the room to your meeting, walk in, press the button on the iPad to start the meeting - done.
With lockdowns Zoom gave us an easy option to come together, to onboard new hires and to keep efficiencies up.

Easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to share the zoom link with those who may not be computer savvy and their ability to join the meeting with ease utilizing the link
What do you dislike about the product?
Echo is bothersome. The length of time that the recordings are stored in the cloud.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am not aware of any
Zoom
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Zoom is professional, I can share my screen, have participants share their screen, there are breakout rooms, recording features, and you can have fun with zoom too.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found any downsides other than those related to the internet, which is more an internet issue than zoom. I am not sure that zoom could provide support for this, but if they could that would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom solves the problem of wanting to meet with people, have more information about the non-verbals of the people I am meeting with when they are unable to come in person.
Zoom is a great tool for our external meetings
What do you like best about the product?
Zoom has been a great platform for all our meetings with external contacts and partners. Everyone finds it easy to use. We've never had issues with video/audio quality or people being able to join a meeting, which we sometimes have experienced with other virtual meeting tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
We had some confusion and challenges around transferring the license and appropriate permissions when my team had a staffing transition. We didn't fully realize how changing the primary contact on the account and the license owner would affect ownership of previously scheduled meetings, so we ran into a few issues but were eventually able to resolve them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had initially tried using another platform for virtual meetings with external partners but switched to Zoom after having several technical issues and confusing experiences for meeting attendees. We've had much better success with Zoom so far.
Zoom is a necessity for all of my remote work meetings.
What do you like best about the product?
Knowing the standard features and controls - and having those be universal across all meetings - is a necessity. On top of that, the ability to schedule directly from google calendar and calendly makes my workflow easier.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hosting privileges and how to transfer ownership of a meeting can be confusing. Additionally, some folks are logging in through external accounts, which automatically places them in a waiting room. Mobile platform could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom is solving the needs of a remote work atmosphere. It allows us to maintain productivity even when we're all in different locations. This allows us to have a routine platform.
Zoom works great for all my meeting needs -- it's my go-to platform for meetings.
What do you like best about the product?
Most importantly, it works seamlessly 99% of the time. I am able to have meetings with individuals, groups, to use the chat, to create breakout rooms, and to record meetings. The breakout rooms are probably my favorite feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found a way to get the experience of a group being in a circle with zoom. For example, if I wanted to play a circle name game, each of us sees a different configuration of people so we cannot play that. I also dislike that the audio really needs to have one person unmuted and the rest muted to work well. You can't quite have the experience of multiple people in the same space on the audio level without people cutting in and out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to meet with individuals and groups, facilitate workshops, and see family or friends in a video call.
Best alternative to being there -- sometimes better
What do you like best about the product?
Unlike some of the other alternatives, ZOOM seems entirely intuitive. It just makes sense. And when I'm working on a document with someone, the ability to just screen share makes it better than in person. (WIth the "no. the TOP of the page. Not that page. The NEXT page" etc. etc.)
What do you dislike about the product?
The only issue I've had with zoom is that the background element is sometimes a little more convoluted than it need be. That said, it works well and allows one to work from anywhere with a modicum of professionalism.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Obviously, the first thing ZOOM solved was attendance in the world of COVID. However, it now also allows more face to face (or quasi-face to face) contact than would normally have occurred in pre-zoom days. It beats the hell out of a phone call. Also, when there are multiple people on a call, its nice to know who's talking.
A huge help to running a remote business
What do you like best about the product?
Zoom is intuitive--even people who are not computer savvy can figure it out. It's feature rich, without being too over the top, and it's reasonably priced.
We were zoom users before the pandemic.
We were zoom users before the pandemic.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sound capabilities are not great. Particularly for music. I know that's not what Zoom was designed for and they've worked on improving this, but there's room for improvement.
Also, it can be complicated to figure out what product/set of features you need. Simplifying this would be helpful.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meeting with people around the world. This is how I run my business. Also, holding webinars or group meetings.
