Agile meetings and remote collaboration

  • June 14, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love Zoom's high-quality meetings that allow us to see and hear each other clearly. You can have one-on-one and group video calls with thousands of participants. You can share screens with others, making it convenient to showcase your work, demonstrate code, or collaborate on projects. You can record meetings on Zoom, which helps review discussions, revisit essential points, or create training sessions with interns and new hires. Recorded meetings can be shared with anyone you have as a Zoom contact. Zoom supports instant messaging, which you can use from any device. You can share code snippets, links, and essential documents. You can also share files of any type within Zoom's interface. Zoom is excellent for collaboration as you can integrate it with development tools. You can link apps like Jira, GitHub, Trello, etc. You can seamlessly link Zoom meetings directly to tasks, issues, or pull requests, enhancing productivity and project management.
What do you dislike about the product?
Zoom has significant security concerns, with people entering meetings without an invitation. Zoom's bandwidth requirements are also high, requiring a stable internet connection for decent performance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Zoom helps us in many ways. We can collaborate remotely and work from home. We can discuss project requirements, solve bugs and run-time errors, and have meetings at any time without needing physical presence. We can share our project windows to review code together, debug, and give feedback and constructive criticism where necessary. Zoom is also excellent for client meetings and demos, where we can show the clients our work and gain feedback. We can also address any query in real time, creating a seamless client engagement experience. Zoom is vital for training sessions and webinars. Features like breakout rooms, polling, Q&A, etc., help share knowledge and have interactive sessions with interns and fresh hires. Overall, Zoom is a versatile tool for software development and remote work, allowing us to collaborate and communicate effectively from home. It's an excellent choice for our current remote teams.

Reliable and intuitive video conferencing with zoom

  • June 12, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the simplicity and ease of use of Zoom! Whether I'm meeting with colleagues or attending an online event, it's always easy to navigate and set up an audio or video conference. The Zoom Rooms add-on is great for office environments, allowing participants to easily switch screens and transfer files. The recording capabilities make virtual events run like clockwork, which makes my life more enjoyable. All in all, this handy program offers everything you'd ever want from a digital conferencing platform, plus a few extra bells and whistles that will bring time-saving productivity back to both professional work environments and casual interactions.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the amount of time it takes to organise and coordinate Zoom calls. It can be difficult to parse through all the available resources, followed by sending out calendar invitations, as well as updating my own Outlook calendar with these details. This whole process is very time consuming and cumbersome - taking up valuable minutes that could otherwise be spent on other tasks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've benefited from Zoom's ability to bridge international boundaries and enable remote collaboration. Its intuitive tools make it easy for me to communicate with colleagues regardless of their location, allowing us to act as if we're together even when we're not.

One common dislike about Zoom is the potential for technical issues, such as audio or video glitches, which can interrupt meetings. Additionally, the free version has time limits for group meetings, and some users may find the interface overwhelming or experience fatigue from prolonged screen time during long meetings.

What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Zoom for the past 7 years, and the best feature is that a large group of people can participate. The video recording capability is outstanding, with clear audio and the highest video quality available.
What do you dislike about the product?
When it comes to connectivity, meetings require an extremely low latency internet connection. When connectivity fluctuates, we hear distorted sounds, whereas Google Meets works fine even with low connectivity.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Connecting people over vast distances, resolving various communication issues while working from a faraway place, we can see it again at any moment thanks to the encrypted recording capability.

2. Reliability: Zoom usually provides a stable connection, which is particularly crucial during video conferences.
3. Features: Zoom includes many useful features like screen sharing, recording, breakout rooms, virtual backgrounds, touch-up appearance, and more.
4. Scalability: It can accommodate meetings of various sizes, from one-on-one calls to webinars with thousands of attendees, making it versatile for different user needs.
5. Integration: Zoom integrates well with other tools and platforms such as Google Calendar, Outlook, and Slack, which enhances productivity.
6. Security: Although there have been security concerns in the past, Zoom has made significant efforts to improve in this area, implementing features such as end-to-end encryption, waiting rooms, and meeting passcodes.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. Security Concerns: Zoom has been criticized in the past for security vulnerabilities. The company has addressed many of these concerns, implementing things like end-to-end encryption, but some people may still be wary due to these past issues.
2. "Zoom Fatigue": As a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people began to experience video call exhaustion or "Zoom Fatigue". This is more about the nature of video calls in general, rather than a Zoom-specific issue.
3. Quality of Service: While Zoom is generally reliable, users can experience issues with video or audio quality, particularly when participants have poor internet connections.
4. Limited Free Version: The free version of Zoom has a 40-minute limit on group meetings, which can be inconvenient for longer gatherings.
5. Interface Issues: Some users find certain aspects of the user interface to be unintuitive or confusing, like managing participants, chat functionality, or settings.
6. Resource Intensive: Zoom can be resource-intensive, sometimes slowing down performance on older or less powerful devices.
7. Privacy Concerns: There are some concerns about data privacy with Zoom, related to what data Zoom collects and how it is used.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is designed to address several common problems related to distance communication, teamwork, and information exchange. Here are a few ways that Zoom is solving these problems:

Geographical Barriers: In an increasingly globalized world, individuals and organizations often need to communicate and collaborate across different locations and time zones. Zoom enables this by providing a reliable platform for video and audio conferencing, thereby eliminating the need for physical presence and travel.

Accessibility and Convenience: Zoom is easy to use, even for individuals with limited technical skills. It works across multiple devices (computers, tablets, smartphones) and operating systems. It also offers features like screen sharing, recording, live transcription, and breakout rooms that make meetings more efficient and inclusive.

Cost and Time Efficiency: By facilitating virtual meetings, Zoom saves on charges related to travel, venue booking, and related logistics. It also saves time that can be used more productively.

Scalability: Zoom can accommodate many participants, making it suitable for large meetings, webinars, and online events.

Integration with Other Tools: Zoom integrates well with various other tools and platforms (like Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Slack, etc.), making it easier to schedule meetings and share information.

Benefits it is benefitting me:

Flexibility: I and my team can join meetings from anywhere, anytime, using any device with an internet connection. This flexibility is particularly beneficial for remote workers, students in distance learning programs, and people with mobility challenges.

Enhanced Communication: Video conferencing allows more personal and engaging interaction than traditional phone calls or emails. Visual cues and screen sharing can improve understanding and collaboration.

Productivity Boost: Zoom's features, like recording and transcription, let us focus on the conversation instead of taking notes. Recorded meetings can be referred back to for clarity, making follow-up actions more accurate.

Learning Opportunities: Webinars and online courses conducted over Zoom offer learning opportunities that may not be locally available. They can be accessed from anywhere and are often cheaper than in-person events.

Social Connection: During social distancing or isolation, Zoom provides a platform for people to connect. This could be for social events, family gatherings, or support group meetings, helping to reduce feelings of isolation and maintain social bonds.

What do you like best about the product?
It's one of the free apps for online meetings. Everyone can set up quickly and enter the meeting room with a passcode. Ease of access and premium features for free are the things I like about Zoom.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I used it, I needed to download the app; there was no web-based Zoom. However, this is no longer applicable as it now has a web-based app. I do not have a dislike for this application.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Conducting virtual classes online during the covid lockdown period. Additionally, it benefits and saves me the time and hassle of meeting someone far away. I can start working on it right away.
