Asana vs Jira
What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that everybody on the team has access to real-time information and can follow the projects, but I think the user interface and the platform speed could be better. Especially coming from Jira, where I believe these two topics were better.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't think they have the best interface and their speed is not the best.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management between our product and creative teams. We have been able to reduce process completion time by 10% by using a platform instead of old methodds.
Its ok. I wish the input could be simplified
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to transfer tasks to others and I appreciate the email reminders
What do you dislike about the product?
the left sidebar navigation is a bit wonky and hard to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
What I had hope to use it for was for replicating tasks in future years and I never really got to use that feature.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is an easy to use and cheap/free project planning tool. It would be great if it supported GAANT charts
Asana is easy to use.
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is fine. It's got a pretty good setup for managing different groups and sharing information in a clear and functional way. It's also easy to chat with others and share info with whoever needs it in the company.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think most of what I disliked was how incompetent my companies use of it seemed. We had a lot of repeat groups trying to accomplish the same thing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It had useful timeline coordination aspects. It helped keep a lot of people on task.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is only as useful as your companies workers - they have to actually do their part. However, the breakdowns on Asana are clear and it's easy to see whether progress is being made on tasks.
Helpful tool for collaboration.
What do you like best about the product?
Keeps task in front of everyone and helps track progress. We use it to help 100+ employees collaborate on a huge conference. Too many tasks to keep up with, but with Asana it was all managed and helped us pull off a great event.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a job to get familiar using it. Takes too much work on front end and can be tedious. All the new users have trouble getting used to it. It seems like it takes more work to mark a task completed than it does to actually complete the task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team collaboration from distance. I have no idea how we would track progress and help everyone stay focused on various tasks required for our conference.
Asana effectiveness
What do you like best about the product?
I liked the concept of focused goal oriented tasking
What do you dislike about the product?
I did not like the difficulty in communication with Asana, limiting communiction to dialogue through the platform and not via email at al
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Integration of two software platforms in healthcare
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Concerns about communication with more than 1 person or redirecting assignments is clunky at best.
Ultimately helpful for a large team or for difficulties in determining task responsibility
What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can forward emails to Asana and it will make them into tasks. That's a really helpful way of keeping track of to-do lists. I also like that there are communications threads and ways to comment on tasks and tag coworkers. It's a helpful way to collect tasks into projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasionally there would be details that I was trying to find within Asana conversations. I would type keywords into the search bar, but as far as I can tell, it didn't search through conversations or comments. Because of this, I'm unable to find comments in threads that are relevant to the task I need to finish. Between having "conversations" and commenting on threads, it can be frustrating to not be able to find conversations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana helped with several of our regional offices cooperating and communicating to plan a mega-event. We were able to delegate efficiently, have conversations about the different projects, and be able to tell who was in charge of each event. It definitely made the planning stages much smoother and it was a great step toward everyone being on the same page. It definitely helped establish a significant workflow, allowing everyone to know what their specific responsibilities are, and helping the large conference event we were planning to move smoothly. I loved that it was easy to communicate with other people on my team, but I wish that there was a more streamlined way to go.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This app is incredibly helpful in organizing larger projects!
Good for managing an tracking tasks
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to assign team members specific tasks and the email reminders are helpful in making sure deadlines are met
What do you dislike about the product?
some of the dashboard functionality is kind of confusing. A cleaner interface would help
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
easy to track work and ensure deadlines are met
Not too bad
What do you like best about the product?
The interface is clean. Color in the right places and seemingly organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
The overflow of notifications required for the system to work is crazy. If there were more prominent notifications you wouldn't need to rely on the Inbox so much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am subcontracting with a client that uses Asana. I have realized that I just don't like it. I don't know that it's any one thing, just the little things that get to me.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is getting better. I've tried it before when it was just awful but they are getting there. If it works for you, great. I just find myself needing more custom experiences so I go with Podio.
Easy Peasy and Pretty
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is usable for everyone - and I mean that quite literally - it allows users to view projects in their own preference (whether you need to see it as a list, agile board, calendar view, etc), making it the perfect option for my team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that the free version allowed us to create more options in the templates. Some of the restrictions don't make sense, even in a free option!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to see all projects at a glance. The ability to have a master calendar. The ability to identify project tasks, due dates, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a great tool. It really allows for ease of use and visibility, essentially what the tool is needed for!
User Friendly
What do you like best about the product?
The best thing I like about Asana is that it is user friendly & works best for a small organisation to maintain communication between the project leads & other users.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that you cannot create tickets within a project and assign that specific ticket to the related individual,
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We don't really solve a problem with Asana. Asana helps us keep track of a on-going project, the status of the project, timeline definition by the individuals involved
