Task Management app features are hit and miss. This one checks a lot of boxes

  • May 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana flows and allows subtask creation in a way that my brain works well with. Many task management apps do not.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having to assign a person to a task makes the quick task creation take a moment longer than I like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of all the things that are a priority, but unable to be dealt with at this moment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's almost a blend of OmniFocus and Wunderlist

Loving the updates

What do you like best about the product?
Asana didn't exactly have everything we needed when we started, but they've been continuously improving.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to decide how to set up your organization so that it runs most efficiently across all teams without bringing in an expert. More examples would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are keeping more on top of tasks that used to fall through the cracks.

Easy to use, but not the greatest to navigate or organize

  • April 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the simple interface of Asana and how easy it is to create a new project. My team all has different ways they like to set things up and this makes it convenient for us to do it however we want.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's hard to keep track of all projects from a timeline perspective because a calendar view isn't really available. It's also not the easiest to pass a project down the pipeline from step to step and assignee to new assignee.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to track projects and requests that was not using a Google doc and this definitely improved that system a lot.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend for personal goal and project tracking, but not necessarily for larger groups with multiple on-going projects.

What do you like best about the product?
I like being able to keep track of my tasks and checking them off once complete.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the comment function - it is a bit too hard to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using asana as a project management tool and it allows people to see whats in the pipline, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
N/A

A good tool with its limitations

  • April 30, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it promotes visibility and communication among teams. It is a great tool for collaboration because you can add team members as followers on tasks and stay updated on due dates.
What do you dislike about the product?
It really bothers me that one of the most helpful features, commenting on tasks, is also a roadblock - when you comment on a task, if you check it off as completed, the comments disappear from the task even if it is a recurring task. This creates issues among team members because it doesn't carry over day to day. I would love for comments on recurring tasks to carry over.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps everyone stay in the loop on what is going on across clients and stay on top of bandwidth issues as well.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good tool, although does come with its limitations.

Pretty dang good

What do you like best about the product?
Asana has been helpful to use after transitioning from working exclusively in Google sheets and scattered project management from meeting to meeting. The follow up system and accountability for who needs to be doing what is huge.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my experience the hardest part about this has been onboarding coworkers who are not as tech savvy as the millennials in the office. Some of them just refuse to get the hang of it, which is frustrating!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management, employee accountability, team collaboration
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Focus on onboarding and really explore the app with coworkers to decide on best layouts, features, etc

Doesn't seem any more useful than communicating through email

  • April 22, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It stores all of our information, but so does just about every other product ever used. Cant really think of great things I liked about it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Doesn't seem any more useful than communicating through email. they layout is odd, and the way to communicate isnt intuitive. Just communicate through email.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to communicate with our freelancers, but we could just as easily do that through email. Just seems unnecessary.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would highly suggest just finding other means of project management.

Nice UI, but lacking in features

  • April 12, 2019

What do you like best about the product?
I like that is is relatively easy to set up if you have a few projects, and it is pretty easy to manage with your coworkers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Once you get past a few projects, you start to wander down a rabbit hole and it becomes very hard to navigate
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration is what we use this for, but since we are growing this is becoming less and less of a product for us

Decent Project Management System

  • April 12, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that all my tasks can be viewed at once on the screen. I also think the app is helpful since it sends notifications when tasks are due.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a way to mark the urgency of tasks. Sometimes a bunch of tasks are lingering since they are not as urgent - it would be helpful to be able to flag less urgent so they do not keep popping up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This helps keeps the team accountable to the tasks we need to complete. Previously, we would have our own separate lists of tasks so many things would inevitably fall through the cracks. Now, our team can see who is responsible for which tasks easily so that things get done.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure your whole team buys into using it. Otherwise, you will get a huge backlog of uncompleted tasks that will eventually cause more people to stop using the tool.

Asana is as good as you make it

  • April 08, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is excellent for task management across multiple people. It is easy to communicate what needs done and when. I also like the email functionality. Asana is connected to project partner's email accounts so you can message one another both in the app or through email.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that looking at a total project on Asana can be difficult. The software does have the ability to turn your task lists into a gantt chart, but they are difficult to read and impossible to share with others who aren't familiar with project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We work on projects across multiple partners - sometimes within the same organization and sometimes not. Asana allows us to communicate about the progress of the project and next steps with ease. It also gives us a common language and common tools from which we are all working. Prior to Asana different organizations and even different people within organizations were using their own project management tools with little to no collaboration across partners.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is only as good as the team using it. If you are thinking about implementing Asana, your team must be disciplined in its implementation and continued use. If team members only use Asana sporadically than results will be sporadic. It's important to utilize the tool regularly and to it's fullest extent.
