Solid and easy to use Project Management tool with no cost

  • August 01, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Have used the free version with several organizations and everyone is always very happy with how easy the tool is to learn and use. It does a good job of tracking tasks, allowing for sharing of files and sending emails when appropriate.
What do you dislike about the product?
Have seen some limitations with the free version which I believe do not exist in the paid version. At one point tried to sync it with TFS and I believe hit a speed bump there as well but may also be tied to using the free version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our IT department uses TFS but several departments that work closely with IT had a need for a Project Management tool that was easy to learn and low cost but still offered what was needed for them to better manage the projects and become more efficient. Asana allowed all of that to happen
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great product and can meet many needs for little or no cost

Quick review of Asana

  • August 01, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that it is available on Windows and Android unlike all the other apps which are great e.g Sketch only being available on Mac
Task management is great.
Navigation is superb and easy to understand
The boards provide a perfect graphical view of the stages where various tasks are at.
The weekly reminder of what tasks have been completed and how many are pending help in tracking progress.
The due date feature on tasks make time management easy so as the team can work within allowed timelines.
What do you dislike about the product?
Too many options/Features, if you are new you can be overwhelmed and get confused on what which feature does.
Limited dashboards on the free plan
I hope this app would have been free or a once buy off instead of monthly payments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team collaboration
Task assignment
Task tracking
Record of all tasks ever done hence providing a record of what the team has done.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go right ahead it is all worth it. For smaller teams you actually do not need to buy a subscription since the free plan gives you unlimited projects and accepts teams of upto 15 people, this is more than a normal startup employee base like here in Kenya.

And just like any other software out there, when you are trying it out keep an open mind because there may be one or two things that you may not like, but trust me, Asana is by far the best task management app i have come across personally. There may be better ones out there but for now, Asana is a win!!

User review of Asana

  • August 01, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
1. The theme of Asana is breathtaking, the combination of th ecolors is amazing, makes it beautiful and want to use.
2. The navigation of Asana is good, makes it easy to find what you are looking for.
3. The introduction of boards on Asana was a huge step to making Asana the best task managing app, with the dragging of task around boards makes it easy to move the tasks around.
4. Assigning of users to tasks and tagging of tasks with priority levels and due dates for each task makes it easy to collaborate with your team regardless if they are on the same room or halfway across the world.
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't it when i could not move my earlier projects from list form to boards when boards were introduced. It will have been nice if i could do that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team management, i work with a team which is in India and i with another team here in Kenya, so collaboration of work and division of tasks was becoming a problem but with Asana, this is no longer an issue.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go ahead and try it out, you won't regret it at all. If you have used Trello then consider this like a Trello 2.0 because it has all those features plus more and then improved and made more appealing and relatable.

I like to call it a "Glorified To Do List" -- in a good way

  • July 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana's simple list orientation makes it easy to follow and manage projects for your team. Assigning tasks and due dates is super easy and the notification options are plentiful. I really like having the ability to add sub tasks to tasks, which means that we can declutter the main view a bit by breaking tasks down into smaller pieces within larger tasks. I actually used to use Asana as my CRM (until I found one that worked out better for me). Oh, and one of the best features of Asana is the price. It's hard to beat free!
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish we could manage team-only and client-facing tasks in the same project (instead of creating a task in a private project and then assigning it from there to a client project). Also, I've noticed that they are focusing a lot more on new functionality for paid members only.

One feature in particular that I would love to see become native is time tracking for individual tasks. Currently it integrates with outside tools like Harvest, which is great if you don't mind the need for an additional tool just to keep track of hours.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project Management, my personal to do list, and bug tracker for clients. At one time I was also using Asana to manage my Sales workflow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a shot! Fortunately free accounts are not completely unusable like on some websites that have a free option.

Asana for commercial cleaning

  • July 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana gives us the ability to communicate with all levels of management. It allows us to find new and interesting ways to solve problems
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the structure of the projects can get a little confusing for newer users. Generally after a little bit of training and time using the product it gets easier
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has allowed us to affectively manage the projects that we have on a day-to-day basis. Instead of things getting lost in translation. Instead of things being forgot about. We have everything in one place

Great starter solution for a free agile project management tool

  • July 25, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana's great for creating a board for an individual project, and assigning a series of sub tasks (with their own assignee's, due dates, and attachments) within that project.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you take the time to learn the features and options of this project management software, there's nothing I've needed and not been able to do. My only gripe is that it's completely web based (i.e. no desktop app) so if you're trying to administrate projects on the move, the connection issue can be frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana has given our teams (particularly dev and content teams) much more structure. The production efficiencies of which, are especially noticeable during peak times.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure everyone using this software is on the same page when it comes to setting up projects and creating new tasks. I'd also say that it's essential for all users to take responsibility for their own tasks and deadlines.

Asana keeps me sane

  • July 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana keeps my life organized. Asana allows me to keep my work organized. What's great is that not only am I organized I can keep my clients organized as well. It's a no pressure way of reminding your clients what they need to do and they can see what you have been doing too.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the different views confusing. Sometimes finding your projects between the different tabs is slightly difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is a great way to keep all my Clients organized.

Lots of features but I don't feel more organized

  • May 31, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana makes it possible to collaborate with others -- to have shared to-do lists and events with all my co-workers so that we can coordinate within our team and across various teams in order to make projects happen. I like the way it's possible to create different projects and dashboards and to assign tasks to specific individuals.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to add another site/login to my daily work process -- I find that I still jot things down on post-its or use my calendar application to keep track of things I need to do, instead of putting them in Asana. It's also difficult to track where things are in a process or to schedule the order in which things need to happen. Also, it's possible to assign things to someone, but they don't necessarily have to acknowledge/accept that the tasks were assigned.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're solving the problem of multiple people working on the same issue without coordinating. Benefits include less duplication of work responsibilities and fewer conversations about "has anyone thought of x" or "has y been addressed." It's easy to find invoices, documents, and materials related to a particular project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend you evaluate what existing productivity tools you're using, and determine whether it's better to invest more in those (or upgrade to more elaborate versions of them), or to add another tool instead -- in which case you may want to divest from some of your current business practices.

Easy, intuitive and good for small teams

  • March 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to have oversight of both my tasks and those of my team members is very important. It's easy to set deadlines and stay on track. It has also seemed to have adopted certain elements from trello and other productivity tools which have helped create a more complete product.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are better tools for more graphic-intensive projects. All users on the same domain are automatically included in the same account. This is ok for smaller teams, but for larger more disparate teams this seems like it could create some organization issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a distributed team so it is important that the entire team is able to keep track of what the others are working on. It promotes accountability and allows us to adapt as needed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We did trials of a few different options, and our trial with Asana helped cement our decision. If your team is small enough it can stay free and if you're looking for a way to manage your projects, no reason not to try it.

Absolutely Love Asana

  • January 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the visibility that Asana gives our Stakeholders. Through using Asana we've taken what used to be 3-4 hour meetings and trimmed them down to 30 minute meetings!
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that they don't have a solid Windows Phone app is the only thing that i would say that i dislike about Asana. Considering the tools that Microsoft provides to easily make apps that bridge all 3 platforms, i don't know why people continue to treat us Windows Phone users like the black sheep!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
API Integration was easily implemented. Ability to associate tasks with one another while keeping them organized by area of concern, while still providing great visibility and notification of progress has been life changing.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would definitely give Asana a shot if you're at all unhappy with your current task software
