Asana for Workflows

  • October 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how Asana helps to keep my workflow in check, while keeping me in the loop about due dates, and the status of my projects. We never have to worry about missing due dates or updates to mission critical projects. Having the ability to access the Asana app from our mobile devices allows work to continue even while being in the field.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I don't like is the sorting and searching functions. They could be a little more refined, but not a deal breaker by any means.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving the constant issue of employees loosing track of their projects, and managers who are left in the dark when projects have issues or make substantial progress. We are also solving the issue of collaboration for complex projects. We can take the input of all associated parties and combine our resources to make effective business decisions and keep everyone up to date.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a great platform for workflow management for businesses of any size. When your entire team comes on board with using Asana, you will see an increase in productivity, speed of project implementation, and work efficiency through all departments.

Asana is the only thing that keeps me sane

  • October 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to add and categorize tasks. I can throw everything into Asana while my manager is talking, then assign dates and create subtasks later at my convenience. I can also add followers and just direct them to Asana tasks instead of walking every single member of the marketing team through every task whenever they happen to ask me about it in the office.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it were easier to hand off tasks to others. If I create a task and complete my portion, but it requires approval, I can mark that it's waiting on approval, but then it just sits in my queue and looks from the outside like I haven't yet completed it. I'd like to have secondary task owners where you can see the task as "completed" in my history--it doesn't just move to someone else's list--but also as pending in theirs. That would also make it easier for me to "manage up" and say, "Hey, so-and-so, as you can see, I finished that task a week ago, but it's still a little ghost there because it's pending. Can you just take 5 mins to look it over and we can both be done with it forever?"
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My main problem is anxiety. If I don't write everything down, I forget it, or I waste my life trying NOT to forget and worrying that I HAVE forgotten, and that some irreparable damage has been done. With Asana, I can give my full attention to any task at hand, and rely on Asana to do all the remembering of other tasks for me.

Check out the keyboard shortcuts they offer--and enable the celebratory gifs!

How Asana boosts the game level of your team

  • October 19, 2017

What do you like best about the product?
For small start ups, it is free! It is very intuitive to use - you don't need to figure out how to create and organize tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is becoming a bit slow. Sometimes loading a task or a page is taking a while. Although there is a huge improvement, I think it still can go a bit ways.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It gets rid of the complexity on handling huge projects. Because with Asana, you can splice and dice a humongous task into tiny bits, show and document the progress, there is no big tasks that can't be handled with Asana. Also, we have different uses for Asana such as time tracking - we use harvest to tell how much time we have spent on a certain task. We also have various apps that allows us to send support requests from the user using their API, although it takes a while to program it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend using Asana api in integrating all your project management needs. It is rich and very capable - we have applications that communicate with the API for support requests, etc. Upgrading for a paid feature is only recommended if you have a bunch of projects. It helps segragate project specific items from each other.

Organize and Prioritize!

What do you like best about the product?
The thing I like best for Asana is the board system and how I can drag images easily into each task. Since I work with a graphics team, it is important to know all of our tasks and what images and layouts are needed. The simple interface allows us to easily navigate and we never miss any messages or deadlines.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing that I dislike about Asana as of right now (: Although we are only using the Free program, we found that all the included tools offered is all we need for our team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I brought in Asana to our small team (Digital Content Team) for easier communication when I, as a project manager is really bombarded with meetings and other obligations. It really shortened the amount of e-mails we got and also other parts of our company has found ways to utilize it for better transparency on information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a small company that has many separate teams that would like to reduce the amount of transparency and work together, Asana is a great option to really hone in on delivering great output. You can focus on the task at hand rather than scrambling through 10+ e-mails just to get that one sliver of information you might have missed. With Asana, my team was able to not miss any deadlines and communication was so streamlined that we all knew what we were doing and most importantly, why.

Using Asana for Daily Tasks

  • October 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
That I can track down every task and be able to manage what I am assigned to everyday.
Pretty useful if you are trying to turnaround task fast and not miss anything
before using Asana some cases/tickets would get lost or they would take longer to resolve.
I feel when that list begins to get long I have to knock every task assigned to me by the end of the day
What do you dislike about the product?
The formatting of the forwarded emails that are hard to format properly with the Asana Dashboard.
Would suggest a way to find titles, subtitles etc. on an email as when it gets migrated to Asana
it causes sentences and the body of the email to become disjoined.
Overall tho great product and I hope asana continues improving this feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using to create tickets to track down hardware issues.
We can classify every progress of the case by selecting a user and assigning a task.
I feel that this product has reduced the turnaround time to solve most issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use Asana to make it easier to accomplish tasks.
-You can assign to the responsible individual
-You can set deadline
-You can comment on a specific task
-You can classify every task

Asana helps IT succeed.

What do you like best about the product?
I love having the ability to organize my team's task & my tasks in a centralized Project. I am working to get the premium version approved so we can interface with other systems that we plan to use in the Internal IT team.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like that I cannot disable Project Grouping in the Later section of the My Tasks screen. I had to change the way I use the program because of this.I would love to see some additional issue tracking processes added to the software, perhaps auto-numbered tasks under Projects. I also do not like that you must pay for premium to access user administrator (I really think that is their hook to get premium).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows the IT department to organize our tasks by severity and by time frame with the custom tags. Custom Tags are the best part of the free version of Asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The Freemium business model of Asana lets you try it for your company. It really is great as freeware. You need to get multiple members of your team on board for it to be successful. You also need to dedicate a few months of use to it for it to really stick.

Pleasant to use, great for task managing with few drawbacks

What do you like best about the product?
Clean, understandable interface, tasks are arranged in a logical order. Project collaboration is a beautiful thing to witness
What do you dislike about the product?
Projects can disappear with a few wrong clicks, mistakenly completed tasks can get separated from the parent project topic
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeps everyone on the same page to say the least. I dont know what we'd do without it
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make use of the templates they will save your life!

Asana Made Doing My Job Easier

  • October 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that my entire team is on Asana in the different projects that they need to be involved in, and nothing else. Keeps everyone focused on their tasks, not everyone else's. It's also helped me keep track of where all projects are and how we can improve.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like a time tracking element. Would be very helpful for me to know how long people are spending on each project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly, I'm keeping my company organized. I have 26 associates all working on different projects and I need to see their status in real time and not have to reach out to them and ask them. My assistant puts all their tasks in and they update as they go. It's very helpful.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd highly recommend you do the free training sessions with Asana and watch all the videos before you start the process of setting up your teams and projects. Once you have a full understanding of the product you're able to get the most out of it. I'd also recommend having one person on your team involved in implementation and management that is not YOU, the administrator who needs the status updates. Having a project manager has saved me tons of time and money.

We use asana for project work in the office, and I learned to love it!

  • October 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very quick and lightweight project management tool. Easy to learn how to use. I personally love the little phenixes and unicorns dancing on your screen but they might not be for everyone. It's very customisable to how your company or team uses it. There seem to be many integrations possible which is nice too.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a pity asana now too works with a "like", I loved the "loves"!. For attachments, it would be even better to work with a link to the attachment instead of uploading it in Asana. Also sometimes it is a bit of a mess concerning the overviews and what to do when.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping in touch with teams I don't usually talk to. My colleagues know what I am working on without me being in the office.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great tool, very flexible, but think about how you would like to use it in terms of setting up your projects and tasks before starting. Or don't, because you can easily change it anyway ;)

Love this product

  • October 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to add in new to-dos, the user face is very easy to use and get a good picture of where I am at with all my to-dos for the day/week. It is a great tool to stay ahead and not have things fall through the cracks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a way to do a reoccurring event for a specific day of the week. I also wish there was a way to make a task a priority.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has helped me organize all my to-dos especially when my email gets crazy. The benefits I have realized is that I do not miss follow ups with clients and I am able to organize my bigger projects that I have to complete.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for a quick and easy to-do list this the product!
