A useful way to plan your day, at work and at home
What do you like best about the product?
I like how useable the tool is with useful hotkeys and and integrated mobile app. I also like how you can break a task into sub-steps that can be completed individually.
What do you dislike about the product?
I still have to be disciplined to use the tool :). It has helpful email reminders but ultimately it's up to you to use it regularly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I keep track of priorities and try to use it to focus my efforts for the day. I can also keep track of details for long-running tasks and projects.
Wonderful for a flexible and responsive bug and task tracking database
What do you like best about the product?
It can be used for personal and business task tracking. It works well for bug tracking and sprint planning as well and makes it easy to outline goals.
What do you dislike about the product?
There was a slight learning curve in the beginning that was easily overcome. Features for QA and bug tracking could be more comprehensive as seen with RallyDev, but nothing that can't be overcome with supplemental application support w/ Google Docs and the like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is wonderful because it can be used for personal task tracking as well as business tracking. It was effective in tracking both bugs, sprint progress, and sprint task. Communication and tagging other users is made easy through Asana. It's easy to organize things the way you want them.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is an excellent tool for small scale project management and can also be used for personal goal tracking.
Excellent Software for Task Management
What do you like best about the product?
This software has really helped me keep task management on track. I use the task and sub task options to create a WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) for projects. This software has many options and is very robust. I especially like the mobile app.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a bit of a learning curve when getting started because there are many options. It can be a little confusing but once I got going it all made sense.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used this software to organize some internal projects and keep tasks straight.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are many options with this software so know what you want to get done before trying it out.
Task Management Made Easy
What do you like best about the product?
I like the team integration and the unlimited tasks and projects. The dashboard is a nice feature as well the reporting function.
What do you dislike about the product?
assigning tasks across different teams can be a little confusing as well as sorting projects through everyone's personal project lists.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When our previous task management system went down, Asana stepped in and proved to be a great tool to fill this void. It is a little more complex that our previous system but with added features that makes tracking project lifelines and task resolution easy.
Best free tool for task management for team members
What do you like best about the product?
I like asana as is its free for a small team, we can assign task to team and they will get notification. Once task is completed we can get reports and all. We can add comments for progress of task and timeline for team members to do project task.
What do you dislike about the product?
user interface was little heavy ( which was taking time to load ) but its been taken care in new version. Now everything is good so far.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are managing tasks for team, progress of project work and requirement change can be commented on task. Checking reports of project task and team performance, time taken for a perticular task etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its good tool for small business and small team to manage team work and individual team members task for perticular project. You can have multiple project and add/assign tasks to team members accordigly.
Simple and easy to use yet powerful
What do you like best about the product?
I can get signed in and get to work. It's a simple solution to use yet fits several needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
To get the most value from it you do need to get your team using it as well. Nothing against Asana but if others on your team don't use it then it's just a task manager and could be easily replaced by another solution.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management and requests.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great platform for the team. If it's just for you as an individual it's probably overkill.
Simple but effective task-management
What do you like best about the product?
I really like using this with my coworkers to create to-do lists for upcoming events. It lets us easily delegate the little tasks in a simple way, without a long email chain or long meetings discussing or confusion about who's taken care of what. The layout is very simple but effective. I also really like that the free version has all the basic features you need :)
What do you dislike about the product?
The screen when you first log in can look a little "busy" and overwhelming! Due date notifications are not ideal, and the emails the software sends out can be slightly confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The benefits are definitely recognized in the amount of time saved on the little tasks (that are still necessary). It's nice knowing exactly who's taking care of each little task and it can be marked off when done, so it saves a step in following up on each task via email or in person.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Note that the free version only works for a team of up to like, 15 people (maybe that has since changed). I have a small office, so that's no problem, but you will need to get the paid version in a larger office.
A Project Manager’s Dream
What do you like best about the product?
I like the inbox feature. It can be overwhelming at times, but I like that it shows some of the biggest tasks you need to complete that day as well as shows you any updates to projects you are a part of. I also love the fact that you can add a task to multiple projects, that helps reduce the number of duplicate tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search feature isn’t amazing. I have a hard time finding tasks unless I remember the exact name of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana is helping keep everyone on top of their deadlines for tasks and projects and uniting different departments within the company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It will transform your work productivity. Honestly I’m not sure how we got anything done while using strictly email for all communication.
Asana Team and Work Tracking
What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Asana is the effortless task focussed communication. The system simultaneously tracks the details of projects being worked on along with the communication surrounding those details. It is all very natural. There is a free version available for smaller groups and it is quite powerful. It is only recently that we upgraded to the paid version in order to access the project dependencies and time management functions available within Asana.
What do you dislike about the product?
I selected the product and found it difficult to navigate and use. However my staff naturally took to it and a year or two after adopting Asana our whole company project management and task oriented communication was being managed by it. Staff gave me a training on how they had adopted it and I came to appreciate its power. I would say it wasn't initially obvious how to properly use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have succeeded at speeding up the implementation of some rather large software development projects. Asana helps to keep track of all the sub-tasks within a project and ensures that they are being dealt with. Communication and the history of discussion around each task is maintained in perpetuity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana makes communication smoother for large and small projects.
Intro to Project Management
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's free for basic uses and small teams. Quick to lean. We have team members of various "technological knowledge" who have been able to master using it. Personally, I also like how it will send polite reminders to others when something is due from them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the controls when creating or removing tasks (or groups of tasks) can be tricky. For example, if you accidentally hit enter you will create another task line. But then you have to go into a menu to delete it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Upper management is able to check in on what the team is working on without directly asking. It's also allowed us more autonomy because the work gets done without micromanagement.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Since the basic version is free, get in there and try it out before you determine if it's right for you!
