Asana is more than a checklist

  • January 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana integrates so nicely with GSuite making it easy to forward emails to projects and attach drive files. We also use the Time integration and recently have been further integrating with pipedrive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like more reporting options, ability to archive an entire team with the attached projects, and more flexibility on the boards.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using Asana as the "command center" for all teams. Our teams are clients and the projects are the elements of our scope of work. Having teams Converse and collaborate within the project cuts down on time moving between multiple tools while juggling many clients. I also set up editorial calendars.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the time to learn the nuances and use it fully - not just a checklist tool.

Basic Team Task Management Software

  • January 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is helpful for managing tasks with our student staff in the office. It has a sleek interface and has an app that makes it useful for on the go work as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a limit for the number of people you can use for free and the cost to add additional people is a bit much for a small organization. We are still working to get everyone in the office regularly integrated into the system. Once we have successfully done that we will evaluate whether the cost is truly worth it to pay.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We began using Asana in order to find a way to effectively communicate with a staff of work-study students who are often not all in the office at the same time and who are also not always in the office at the same time as their direct supervisors. This program has allowed us to create teams where the professional staff member can assign tasks to their student workers and, when the teams aren't in the office at the same time they can even communicate back and forth via the comments. The calendar option is also useful but we have not utilized it as much.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is great task management for small offices. The limit on users is the only thing to consider. However, we have been able to create teams and follow up on tasks within our individual teams that allow for performance evaluation and task management as well.

This is best for organizing and monitoring projects.

  • January 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is an opportunity to eliminate chaos and organize the workflow in order to optimize it. The service has excellent design and functionality and, at the same time, easy to use. I like the function of organizing projects for each participant and for the team as a whole. This helps to assess the pace and dynamics of the project. And also makes our communications within the team easier and more efficient. I see Asana's great potential.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have any bad problems with this platform. Actually, I found that software useful and understandable for all working team.
This is not a minus, but my wish: I would like to be able to monitor and evaluate the contribution of each participant to a particular project.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using Asana was very effective for our team. It is an ideal service precisely for collective cooperation. We can prescribe tasks, set dates and deadlines, comment something, and much more. I also use this service for personal purposes. Notifications about the timing of my tasks, allows me to be more organized.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a need to control the performance of tasks assigned by your team, then Asana will be very useful. Because it is the best tool for organizing projects, setting tasks and controlling the entire work process. The service is easy to use and helps to establish communication within the team.
I recommend Asana for both business and personal use.

Intuitive interface

  • January 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
When you first start using it, you know exactly how to do it. It's very intuitive. It is scalable and is easy to understand. I feel there is nothing much to improve, it is already doing very well. In my previous work place, I used Basecamp for the organizing and assigning tasks. I feel it is very comparable to that. Highly customizable to particular tasks and is reliable. I used Asana for a brief time in Cognizant and introduced it to few seniors and they really loved it. It personally used it for my publishing tasks. we had small team doing lot of tasks which were difficult to manage at times. Being able to add multiple team members to tasks to keep everyone updated on status and responsibilities is awesome! Having the ability to set deadlines and view other team members tasks is a great way to keep everyone accountable to the work we are delivering. I also love that we can share documents and it easily integrates with our time logging software to keep track of our work hours, which is crucial when it comes to billing and related activities. So overall the software is really good.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish updates were in the form of texts (SMS), something like slack + asana
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's mostly organizing and tracking of tasks assigned
Recommendations to others considering the product:
alerts can be in the form of texts that can be replied to. Like Slack

Task tracking made simple

  • January 03, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The UI, for sure. I couldn't think of many more ways to reinvent the to-do list - but definitely Asana was able to surprise me in a lot of ways. It's so easy to visualize and understand your tasks in a specific project, as well as see where is your team on their tasks too. The tasks also can store anything you need, from links, comments, picture, items, etc - but to the contrary of other task management tools like Trello and Evernote, this data doesn't get in the way of the main information - great UI and UX!
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I think is really missing from Asana is having some tools that can have it used along with Scrum, like having a backlog and being able to separate the tasks by sprints or epics.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organize our work and improve the team's communication. A place that is easy to great both daily tasks and longer term and bigger scope projects. After making use of Asana we could definitely observe improvement of the team's overall productivity. Now everyone knows exactly what they should be doing (app is great for delegating tasks) and more than that, everyone knows where they should go to understand everything that is going on regarding their projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are afraid that Asana can be overwhelming, don't be. It has a lot of features but it is very simple to use. And more than that, it has integrations with many other tools as well, like Slack and even Google Chrome. It is not only a great tool to be used in teams but also you can use it to track your personal projects too. But if you are considering to use to track your Scrum projects, I think you might need to search for another tool.

Simple Informally Formal Project Management Tool

  • January 02, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is simple to start with and tough to master. It is very quick-start oriented and is great for teams that need a virtual checklist. The email alerts and digests are a more robust way of dealing with reminders for teams than always using, say Microsoft Outlook. I like the attention and additional features it has continued to get since we started using the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
CSV imports were probably the single biggest thing lacking and oddly just today they send a happy new year email launching the feature. I think the informal nature of the product is both a strength and a weakness. The project/data exports can be a bit chaotic if your usage had you moving things all over in different sequences during the life of a product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're solving cross-team communication on collaborative projects where responsibilities are shared amongst many parties. We're more visually aware and have a solid data source to look to for various projects and progress.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider this if you have issues with user adoption. This tool is great for non-technical personnel or when you need something simple that is not a hinderance.

Great for small teams

  • December 30, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is the perfect project management software for small teams that don't need the complexity of a JIRA or other overly complex system but have quickly outgrown tracking tasks in Outlook or Excel. Entering a task takes all of 15 seconds. But if you need to you can quickly expand the information around a task by attaching files, creating sub tasks, setting due dates and dependencies, basically all the features you'd expect with a robust project management system without the overly cumbersome screens or requirements. Asana just lets you use what you need for that project or task without forcing a defined workflow on you every time like JIRA.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that they took away the ability to track hours from the free version but I understand why. I also don't like that to track estimated hours, actual hours used and task status you have to setup custom fields for everything. It would be nice if they offered some "templates" of standard custom fields out of the box.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana allows my small team to quickly plan out projects and track the tasks needed to complete the project on time for our clients. I love how we don't need dedicated project manager to just manage the project software but can have the developers manage the tasks themselves.

Asana is the best one for me!

  • December 29, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are a few highlights that make this tool awesome to utilize anyway you can do a great job with this tool, is very helpful in data manipulation.
I can do a request for my colleagues to do a task or I can ask others to join us.
I can provide my comments on the tasks so in this way my team can see the updates on our projects.
I like that the updates are sent in real time
What do you dislike about the product?
Asana has positively progressed significantly. I have utilized Asana since 2 years and there may have been a couple of minor problems but I have not found any inconvenience in my projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana takes care of a few issues: remote team-work, a clear list of tasks, and timely updates. Asana has helped our remote groups to cooperate.
This instrument enabled us to share needs and demands without being in the same location
It eliminates the excess of a procedure and causes us jump straight into the work. With Asana the remote work is very simple, it's constantly great to have a synchronized view about my projects and my team is informed about this.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's so simple to utilize this program. There are many new components that were not accessible in the past years but now you can try a lot of functions.
Simply concentrate on what you require and there shouldn't be any inconvenience utilizing the application.

Task Management for Teams

  • December 29, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to generate tasks and then assign them. The interface is easy to understand. It does everything I want.
What do you dislike about the product?
Communication is not great at this. Unless you are constantly reviewing your mentions, it can be difficult. There are no functionalities to see which tasks are completed on all teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company is a fast-paced customer service atmosphere, and we need software that can keep up with all the little tasks that happen by the hour

One of the best project management/collaboration softwares available

  • December 29, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the best things about this software is it's ability to keep everything and everyone in the loop. No more need to use 2-3 different softwares to complete a task and another to transfer the information to a coworker. Asana allows your team to work in sync with one another with very few flaws. There is a very small learning curve and having the ability to integrate other softwares is a huge time saver.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the features seem to have been "underdeveloped" so that you would have to purchase add on software to work with Asana. But the add-ons work great so it's a love-hate thing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication and task management. Asana has allowed us to seamlessly transition work from one department to another while keeping everybody in the loop.;
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is a great product for those looking for a way to streamline the communication and daily tasks of their business. The various pricing options makes it available to those that want to give it a try for free to test the waters, and those that understand its value and spend the $12 per month per person to go with the premium.
