Asana - Great for team accountability
What do you like best about the product?
From a manager's perspective, I love that Asana allows me to see what my employees have crossed off their list. It's great for accountability and making sure everyone is staying on task.
What do you dislike about the product?
From a coworker's perspective, I don't like that I can see what work my fellow coworkers are doing. For example, I don't want them to see how much I've done if I have private info on there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Accountability, team building, ability to chat with each other. It's nice to have many features in one dashboard.
Centralizing multiple workflows
What do you like best about the product?
the ability to endlessly add detail to each project yet keep everything organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
the customization options for premium members is somewhat limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
locking down a workflow for the generation of new assets and making sure that the appropriate person each step of the way is notified when approval/edits are needed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using something like slack and need a similar product with slightly more structure Asana is the way to go.
Regain Your Sanity with Asana!
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is very easy to understand and use. It's easy (and fast!) to add tasks and subtasks to projects because the Asana interface is designed to reflect the ease of use of a text editor. *Very* effective design paradigm.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile Asana app has a relatively steep learning curve. Takes some time and experimentation to find your projects and tasks and learn how to be productive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm mostly solving personal organization problems with Asana. Creating project streams for myself, adding tasks with dates to those projects, and then knocking out the work I've planned and organized for myself. I also use Asana to communicate with a very small team of people that are mostly following my updates as I knock out work planned in Asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend just trying Asana. Time yourself and see how long it takes you to get up and running with the tool and how long it takes you to become productive with it. Think about the text editor design paradigm and just use the Enter/Return and Delete keys accordingly. Super fast. I'd also recommend starting your trial using the web app instead of using the mobile app.
Asana quickly rising to the top
What do you like best about the product?
Their ability to work on desktop or mobile as well as their versatility to work with projects of any size
What do you dislike about the product?
Their isn't anything that I dislike. I think the Boards section could use a little more work but that is a newer feature
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's all about collaboration. Although we don't have it deploy enterprise wide we are testing it amongst some teams. It gives us the ability to have access to project information all in one solution. Instead of each member keeping notes or tracking info on their own we can all keep them in one place. As a manager you can just look and see where the project is at without having to reach out to the team member. It's cut down on phone calls or emails.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would love to see more dashboarding so I can have a holistic view of all projects as a manager.
Great with Adoption
What do you like best about the product?
We are still using the free version, but even so, it provides much of what we need, which is easy tracking of our own tasks as well as others' tasks, in a clear and clean way. The alerts keep you on track, the mobile app works well with the browser, and the design is clean. You can separate people out into teams, so you're only seeing what's relevant to you, and create long-term projects with relevant tasks so that everything is laid out in the right category. The reports give you a visualization of how well you and your team are staying on track. It's great for assigning tasks to others or just keeping others in the loop.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I dislike about Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowing what's on each others' plates and seeing a calendar view of where we can either help each other out or assign work. It's all about awareness of each others' work loads and staying up to date on relevant information.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out on a trial basis for a while to get the hang of it; it's a little abstract and confusing, so to encourage adoption by your coworkers, know the ins and outs so you can answer their questions and show them why it's beneficial to use.
Great for keeping the team on task.
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to be notified of tasks that I am following. This keeps the team on the same page and I'm not constantly checking in with them to see if they have completed something.
What do you dislike about the product?
Notifications could be better, they aren't flashy enough to truly be notified. I end up getting things because I have built my habit to check for notification. You really only get one notification a day in the morning telling you what you have for the day, and its just a bubble, no sound.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping the team on tasks and connected.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Product works as expected and setup is easy, easier than others in my opinion.
Company wide to-do list
What do you like best about the product?
I like how connected asana makes employees
What do you dislike about the product?
Too many new features that do the same thing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Asana to keep all the members of our teams on the same page. It is helpful to be able to mention other employees to alert them. We have also found the tagging structure to be helpful, a certain item within a project can be tagged based on the department that needs to complete it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is useful as long as everyone in your company takes advantage of it, if a team member ignores updates or does not check timelines it can become difficult to keep everyone on track.
Useful tool for project management
What do you like best about the product?
It makes listing out the steps for a project easy, as you are able to create a project team, assign tasks to individuals and due dates. I also like that alerts you when someone on your team completed a task
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that there are not as many capabilities on the mobile version. For example, you are unable to set a status update.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used for project management - as I was leading projects, I could figure out how to keep a project on track/stick to a timeline. It also ensures everyone is on the same page regarding a project’s progress
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The version that you pay for is helpful because you are able to set up contingent tasks (eg if one person checks off a task, that notifies the person responsible for a contingent task that comes next that they could get started)
The Greatest Project Management Platform
What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Asana the team integration ability. I have virtually removed all unnecessary email correspondence and moved everything over to Asana so that no one can fear missed communication.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the inability to set priority levels to tasks
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving automation and growth issues with Asana. As we add team members, we are able to onboard them to projects much easier than without Asana.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are the type to try before buying, then sign up for the free user account! You can have up to 15 team members in a free account
Couldn't be easier!
What do you like best about the product?
Asana makes it so simple to break down projects into smaller tasks, assign them importance, and delegate them to a specific person. It's extremely intuitive and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be a little annoying to edit tasks or projects when you need to change deadlines or assignees. I worked in a slightly more free-flowing office and the rigidity of Asana deadlines was a constant stress. I had to go in and edit deadlines so often. This software is best-suited to environments that REQUIRE hard deadlines. If you anticipate ambiguous or flowing deadlines, Asana notifications can get old fast.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used Asana to keep projects on track and to ensure that all team members were accountable and on-schedule for their components. It was extremely useful for time-sensitive projects where other team members were waiting on other people to finish a part. If you work in a field where one person is relying on another person to finish something, Asana is invaluable to keep everyone working hard and fast.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is best for those that :
have hard set deadlines
have large projects where each component or team relies on the previous step to be done on time
need to keep team members accountable
