Does the trick, but frustrating!
What do you like best about the product?
Asana is collaborative. My favorite features are the ability to add followers to any task, set up a project and have followers of the entire project plus multiple tasks and a timeline, can add a date range instead of a due date, and the ability to @someone in comments or notes. It's pretty handy.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is not particularly user-friendly. Because it's not the most intuitive, it's easy to end up using it as a glorified to-do list. If following a task, you receive an email for every single minor change to the task. Things aren't where you would think they should be - right click is not a feature so you have to dig to do something simple like delete a task. You get used to it but the interface feels antiquated. It's more like a software program to cover yourself than a software program to keep a project flowing, And you can't assign one task to multiple people (i.e. if I need 3 people to proofread a document I have to create a task then copy and assign it to the other 2 people)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management, task ownership, accountability, to-do lists
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a shot - it has hiccups but it does the job and is reliable.
Decent
What do you like best about the product?
It is an application that allows me to organize the occasional meeting with sales colleagues, but of course I would prefer another application. I liked this one in the sense that it is much simpler than others, but I don't find it at all pleasant that the company has to spend money on organizing internal meetings between colleagues from the same department.
What do you dislike about the product?
Above all, the price is too high for what it offers. If they lowered the price, maybe, just maybe, in the future we would consider using this application in our company for internal matters.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I help the newcomers who had no idea how to make a plan, for example, for meetings.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The price is high for an application that only allows us to organize meetings; otherwise, the interface is very simple. Let's say that even a person with no computer experience could understand it, but of course, I like other applications more. However, it's the one we've been working with lately in the company.
Good task management platform
What do you like best about the product?
Keeping track of tasks for others (and adding to them) so we're all on the same page of what's accomplished.
What do you dislike about the product?
We only use the free version at this point. We don't fully find it beneficial to switch to the paid version, nor do we think we'd find it worth it for the value.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management and staying on the same page inside the organization.
Great Tool for Small Teams
What do you like best about the product?
I like how user friendly the UI is and all of the product guides were super intuitive and quick. I was able to get my account and immediately generate todo lists for myself and my team. Then using their guides and videos become an expert at building my Kanban board for each project and organize all my sub tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like how a gantt chart is an add on, I also do not like how when someone creates a task but doesnt assign a due date its hard for me to track down how long a task was created for and have those populate a sheet or an area so that i can make sure people put due dates to their tasks and we dont forget about them.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are doing project management and team management. The benefit is that we can go from 0 task management and project management to a pretty simple solution in only a few hours.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are a small team its a great tool but if you are looking for a full blown project management solution Asana doesnt come with all the bells and whistles you might be expecting.
Asana
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to use and navigate through as well to see what has been done by other colleagues
What do you dislike about the product?
whenever you press enter it creates a new task when it doesn't need to. You can't use all functions unless you pay for it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
keeping communications flowing and see where everyone is at with their tasks.
Helpful
What do you like best about the product?
Love that people from different teams can track progress on projects in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
Wish it integrated more easily with some other tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
So much time saved from not having to check in with others - can see progress just from Asana.
Functional but flawed
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to check off to dos and see list of tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
Subtasks and sections are confusing - frustrating that subtasks must be added to a project to show up in timeline
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Accountability and clear delineation of responsibilities
A good start to team communication
What do you like best about the product?
This app was definitely a step above simply using emails to communicate with the rest of my staff. We are able to keep different topics in different threads and set internal deadlines, while also seeing what other team members have accomplished by them marking a task "Complete."
What do you dislike about the product?
The emails every time somebody tags me! I understand this is good for constant updates and knowing the status of projects, but I hate the fact that my phone dings a million times in the evenings with other team members working on projects and asking questions. Asana never leaves my side it seems, and that is a good thing AND a bad thing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Productivity has increased now that we're all held accountable by others constantly viewing our statuses.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We have since switched to another project management service.
Seamless sharing among collaborators
What do you like best about the product?
This App has been very easy for my team members to adapt! The easy sharing of tasks and tracking of projects has been excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of analytics. There is no ability for us to track our results against our goals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana gives our team a boost in regards to organization and overall project management. It allows us to bring an added layer of accountability to all our team members.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is not an end-all software, meaning that it does not meet all the needs of a successful project manager, but it is ease to use and share among your team.
Good for a small business
What do you like best about the product?
This project has helped keep our different teams in sync by seeing what goes on from department to department, and where current projects are as far as completion schedules are concerned.
What do you dislike about the product?
Our small business is older and has a tendency to rely on old habits and the mantra "If it's not broken, don't fix it." Transitioning to Asana from the old standard (e-mail) has been a bit of a hassle but we see the benefits long term in using a site like this to help streamline communication in a more organized fashion.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Instead of e-mailing questions to one another about project status, we can just login to Asana and get real time updates from different departments. Our waterjet operator has chosen to implement this means of communication and we've already seen great rewards from switching over (and he's much happier not answering a million emails a day!)
