Opportunity for Improvement for BrowserStack: Download Reports of DevTools Information
What do you like best about the product?
I really like BrowserStack for testing on different mobile devices due to the wide variety of real devices and browsers without the need to maintain a physical collection of devices in the team I work with, and this certainly increases the frequency of BrowserStack use by me and other members of my team. Among the features that impress me the most about BrowserStack is the ease of implementation, customer support, and the ease of using it with test automation tools as well, like Cypress, for example. Another point I really like is the real-time debugging with DevTools, which greatly facilitates the quick identification of problems without needing to recreate the environment locally on the developers' machines, for example. Additionally, the ability to perform tests on real networks, various locations, and varied conditions such as 3G, 4G connections, and others help ensure a user experience closer to reality in the software I test with BrowserStack.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find it difficult to point out something I don't like about BrowserStack, as it is a very good tool! Something that sometimes bothers me during use is the slight slowness of the device, but I realize that for me this depends a lot on my internet connection, because when the connection is strong, I hardly notice any slowness. However, despite BrowserStack being a tool that I really like and offering various resources that greatly assist in day-to-day tasks, ease of integration with other tools, and other conveniences, I think there is an opportunity for improvement regarding the limitation of not being able to download detailed reports of the information presented in DevTools (network requests, WebSocket, and other events captured during tests). Although it is possible to view this information in real-time, the ability to export it for developers' analysis during the attempt to fix a defect would greatly help with complex problems or those specific to a particular device being used in tests on BrowserStack. Currently, when I encounter a defect in the software I am testing, the developers and I need to manually copy the information from DevTools to assist us in debugging the issue. Often, during the investigation of a defect or even a performance failure of the software I am testing, it is essential to have a detailed history of network requests and API responses. If there were an option to generate complete reports in formats like JSON or CSV, it would greatly help to share this data with other team members and even use it in audits or automations within the test pipeline.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Today, BrowserStack in the team I work with solves one of the biggest challenges in web application development and QA: testing compatibility across different browsers, devices, and operating systems without needing to manually set up complex environments. Before we had the BrowserStack tool available to us, conducting comprehensive tests in different contexts of smartphones, browsers, and operating systems required maintaining several physical mobile devices and virtual machines, which demanded a lot of time and high costs. With BrowserStack, we can test applications on real devices in the cloud and ensure that our users' experience is consistent across various scenarios without needing to invest in additional physical hardware.
The Ultimate Game-Changer in Real-World Testing
What do you like best about the product?
What truly sets BrowserStack apart is its immediate access to a vast array of real devices and browsers. It empowers you to conduct thorough, real-world testing, ensuring your website or app operates flawlessly across every platform—something that those still clinging to outdated emulators can only dream of. Its sleek, intuitive interface and remarkably responsive support make even the most technologically challenged feel like a pro.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite its impressive capabilities, BrowserStack isn’t without its quirks. There are occasional instances of lag during live testing sessions, which can interrupt your otherwise smooth workflow. Moreover, while the premium pricing reflects its top-notch features, it might come off as a bit steep for smaller teams or individual developers who haven’t yet caught up with the pace of true innovation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
BrowserStack effectively eliminates the hassle of maintaining a physical device lab—something that, frankly, many still struggle with. It tackles device fragmentation head-on by providing instant access to a diverse range of real devices and browser environments. This means I catch compatibility issues early, drastically reduce debugging time, and accelerate deployment cycles, ultimately ensuring my applications perform flawlessly in the wild.
