This product provides Redis 7 integrated with Ubuntu 24.04 and delivered as an Amazon Machine Image (AMI) by ThinkCloud. The original upstream software description is retained below.

Following best security practices for default environments, this image introduces no heavy customizations, hidden scripts, or altered configurations. It is identical to a standard repository installation, giving you full control over memory allocation, persistence setups (RDB/AOF), and clustering choices.
Ideal for developers, system administrators, or students who need an instant standalone Redis 7 instance for local caching, session management, messaging queues, or prototype benchmarking.
Security hardening and support
This AMI is Hardened by ThinkCloud with security-focused operating-system configuration and baseline hardening intended to reduce unnecessary exposure and provide a consistent starting point. Review your security groups, IAM permissions, secrets, application settings, and patch levels before production deployment. ThinkCloud support is available for AMI usage and initial configuration.
Marketplace software charges cover seller-performed software and operating-system integration, preparation of included runtime or artifacts, application of the verified hardening baseline, repeatable image construction, and final AMI testing. Support and maintenance are supplementary services and are not the sole basis for the software charges.

Larger instances carry more CPU, memory, or specialized hardware, so their hourly rate is higher. You select the instance that fits your workload, and billing tracks your actual running hours plus standard AWS infrastructure charges.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
Each hourly unit is one running AWS EC2 instance of the type you select. The software charge accrues for every hour that instance runs. The rate reflects the instance family and size, such as general-purpose, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, GPU, or bare-metal machines.
The software charge meters running hours only. A fully stopped instance does not accrue the hourly software fee. Stopped instances may still incur standard AWS storage charges for attached volumes, which are separate from the software rate you pay here.
Your bill combines the hourly software rate for the instance type you choose plus standard AWS infrastructure charges for that instance. The software rate scales with instance size and family. AWS compute, storage, and data transfer charges apply separately on the same invoice.

Usage instructions
SSH to the instance and login as 'ubuntu' using the key specified at launch.
Redis 7 is installed with default configurations. To verify or manage the service, follow these steps:
Switch to root user: sudo su
Check the database service status: systemctl status redis-server
Connect to the local database instance: redis-cli
Note: By default, Redis only listens on localhost (127.0.0.1) for security reasons. If you need remote access from other instances, please modify the 'bind' and 'protected-mode' settings in '/etc/redis/redis.conf' and set a strong password using 'requirepass'. Ensure port 6379 is configured in your AWS Security Group.
