Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for this hardened AlmaLinux 8 image, billed per running instance. Pricing has no upfront commitment and follows usage. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS EC2 instance type, such as general-purpose, compute-optimized, memory-optimized, storage-optimized, and accelerated compute families. Your hourly software rate is tied to the instance type you launch. Larger instance sizes within a family carry higher rates because they provide more compute, memory, or storage. You choose the instance that fits your workload, and charges scale with the size and family you select.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What am I paying for beyond the standard AlmaLinux operating system?
You pay for a hardened version of AlmaLinux 8. Hardening limits system weaknesses that expose it to cyber threats. The image follows recognized secure configuration standards. This differs from a standard image by reducing vulnerabilities like unauthorized data access and denial of service.
Am I charged the hourly software rate when my instance is stopped?
The software rate meters running time only. Fully stopped instances do not accrue hourly software charges. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes, but those are AWS infrastructure costs, not the software license charge.
How does my bill change if I switch to a larger instance in the same family?
Your hourly software rate is tied to the specific instance type you launch. Moving to a larger size within a family raises the hourly rate, since it provides more compute, memory, or storage. Charges apply only while that instance runs.
