Manage and secure containerized Windows applications with Docker Enterprise for Windows Server and operate them in parallel with Linux-based containers on the Docker Enterprise container platform.
Docker Engine - Enterprise is available at no additional cost to all Windows Server 2022 customers.
Docker works the same way on Windows as it does on Linux: leverage the same Docker CLI, API, image format, and Docker registry services for both Windows and Linux images in the same cluster.
Docker Features
Lightweight containers spin up fast and optimally use system resources
Eliminate conflicts of different versions of IIS/.NET to coexist on a single system with container isolation
Take advantage of new Docker Certified Container base images like Windows Server Core and Nano Server
Consistent user experience: use the same commands as Docker for Linux environments
Manage and secure containerized Windows applications in the same cluster as Linux applications
Subscription tiers give Windows applications the same advanced container management features as Linux-based applications including image scanning, overlay networking, and Secrets management
Added isolation properties with Hyper-V containers selected at runtime
Run both Windows and Linux containers

AWS Marketplace now accepts line of credit payments through the PNC Vendor Finance program. This program is available to select AWS customers in the US, excluding NV, NC, ND, TN, & VT.
Pricing is based on actual usage, with charges varying according to how much you consume. Subscriptions have no end date and may be canceled any time.
Additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. Use the AWS Pricing Calculator to estimate your infrastructure costs.
If you are an AWS Free Tier customer with a free plan, you are eligible to subscribe to this offer. You can use free credits to cover the cost of eligible AWS infrastructure. See AWS Free Tier for more details. If you created an AWS account before July 15th, 2025, and qualify for the Legacy AWS Free Tier, Amazon EC2 charges for Micro instances are free for up to 750 hours per month. See Legacy AWS Free Tier for more details.
You pay by the hour for the software on the EC2 instance type you choose. Each dimension maps to a specific AWS instance size, from small general-purpose types to large compute, memory, storage, and GPU-optimized options. The hourly rate scales with the instance's capacity, so larger instances cost more per hour. You are not locked into a term; billing follows your actual running hours. This lets you pick an instance that matches your Docker Engine Enterprise workload on Windows Server 2022 and adjust as your needs change.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover, and does the software cost include the underlying AWS instance charge?
Each dimension bills the software licence per hour on the matching EC2 instance type. A unit maps to one running instance of that size. The rate reflects the instance's compute, memory, storage, or GPU capacity. The underlying EC2 compute cost is separate and billed by AWS in addition to this software rate.
Am I charged when my instance is stopped or paused?
The hourly software charge meters running time only. When you stop an instance, the software charge stops accruing. You still may pay AWS for attached storage while the instance is stopped, but the software licence bills only the hours the instance runs.
If I need to run Linux containers instead of only Windows containers, does that change my instance choice?
Running Linux containers requires Hyper-V nested virtualization, which depends on supported instance families such as i3. This does not change how billing works. You still pay the hourly software rate for whichever instance type you select, but your choice must support Hyper-V if you plan to run Linux containers.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
