FortiMail Secure Email Gateway - Enterprise ATP (PAYG)

We are suggesting Fortinet FortiMail  to control, check, and keep all email platforms secure and monitor if malicious code is coming through emails. We are using it for these purposes.

We are a cybersecurity company. We offer security services to many different companies, and some of our clients have Fortinet FortiMail .

In the consulting industry, we provide consulting and services to manage security for clients who don't have an IT department with cybersecurity personnel. In these cases, they use our services to maintain security in Azure  and other platforms.

The reporting features are especially valuable, including frequent reports for issues, alerts, and phishing alerts. We generate these reports weekly to check how the security is working with Fortinet FortiMail.

From our experience with Fortinet FortiMail, we have found that it's a very strong platform for ensuring company security. It is a very good product.

It can be somewhat difficult to prepare precise or very deep rules to improve security, though the product is very good.

I have been using Fortinet FortiMail for about six months as we are a cybersecurity company. We offer security services to many different companies, and some of our clients have Fortinet FortiMail.

The deployment was good for us. The friendly deployment process is very important for Fortinet FortiMail.

The support for Fortinet FortiMail is excellent. On a scale from one to ten, I would give it a nine.

I work with Fortinet FortiMail products but not with FortiGate . We don't use exactly the DLP  features with Fortinet FortiMail, but we activate some rules. We are not currently exploring the DLP  features.

I use Fortinet FortiMail  as a firewall and an SMTP gateway for email. It works with our existing mail server on-premises to handle email filtering and security functions.

Fortinet FortiMail  offers capabilities like settings for mail delivery, mail filtering, spam controls, and email bursting prevention. It also allows for email forwarding, dynamic filtering, and scanning based on virus signatures. I can set varying levels of security. The tool is flexible and provides essential features for mail security and management.

Fortinet FortiMail should keep pace with features offered by cloud-based services like Google and Microsoft Outlook. Additionally, the transition from on-premises devices to virtual appliances may be necessary as more organizations migrate email services to the cloud.

I have used Fortinet FortiMail for more than five years.

I have not contacted FortiMail support specifically, but I mentioned that support for FortiGate  was delayed, and it was challenging for me to understand support questions. I did not highlight any specific issues for Fortinet FortiMail.

Fortinet FortiMail is considered overpriced by Indian rupee standards. My organization is not profit-making, and academic pricing is required, but it may not be available for security products like FortiGate .

Security remains essential, and maintaining on-premises solutions may become challenging as more organizations move to cloud hosting services. Fortinet FortiMail is rated an eight for the protection and features it provides in the on-premises setup. The email security tool is considered essential despite high costs to ensure appropriate protection for data.

On-premises

Fortinet FortiMail  is primarily used by financial institutions to protect their mail servers. It offers protection from advanced features of email-based attacks and is placed inline with the mail server to filter inbound and outbound traffic.

The most valuable features are Fortinet FortiMail 's ability to protect from advanced features of email-based attacks, including protection against ransomware and malware attacks. It is especially effective in blocking spam through standards like wrong source IP for email-based attacks. Its high scalability and stability, especially for financial institutions, are noteworthy.

Detailed documentation regarding deployment options and configuration would be beneficial. Providing comprehensive documentation on how to deploy and configure would improve the solution.

I have been involved with Fortinet FortiMail in presales for two years.

It depends on the use case and licensing features. Deploying basic functionality could take about two weeks, while deploying advanced features might take around one month.

The Fortinet solution, including FortiMail, is stable. This stability is consistent across Fortinet products, including FortiGate  firewall.

Fortinet FortiMail's scalability is high, especially for financial institutions.

The technical support from Fortinet FortiMail is high. I have direct communication with Kenyan system engineers and local support in Ethiopia, enabling good support.

Fortinet products, including FortiMail, have templates for sizing. Depending on these templates, questionnaires are prepared for clients to gather information for sizing based on the requirements.

For me, Fortinet FortiMail is the best solution I have ever tried. I rate it eight out of ten overall.

On-premises

I use Fortinet FortiMail  for email security. As I mentioned before, we had a company bring it in to run as a Proof of Concept (POC) for six months. After that period, we approved and implemented it.

The most valuable feature of Fortinet FortiMail  is its ease of use. It is very straightforward and provides good functionality. 

Additionally, its threat detection capabilities have been beneficial. It has been easy to integrate and work with, providing us with the necessary features for email security.

The area that could use some improvement in Fortinet FortiMail is the integration process. I would like the integration to be easier.

I have used FortiMail for approximately four years.

The stability of Fortinet FortiMail is very high, and I would rate it a ten out of ten.

The scalability of Fortinet FortiMail is excellent. I would also rate it a ten out of ten.

I have had communications with Fortinet's technical support, and they offer high-quality support.

Before using Fortinet FortiMail, I used Cisco for email security. The change was due to my switching companies rather than dissatisfaction with Cisco.

The initial setup of Fortinet FortiMail was easy.

The deployment was done directly through Fortinet, and there was no third-party involvement.

I have observed a return on investment from FortiMail. It offers cost savings compared to Cisco, which was very expensive.

The pricing of Fortinet FortiMail is cheaper compared to Cisco, which was quite expensive.

I would rate Fortinet FortiMail ten out of ten overall.

We use FortiMail  to filter all emails coming to our mail server. It blocks malicious emails automatically. We also have FortiAnalyzer to collect logs and monitor traffic with Fortinet analyzers. We are in the process of buying FortiWeb to secure our website against attacks like SQL injection.

Our Fortinet infrastructure allows us to maintain consistent protection across all devices.

The main area for improvement is the pricing. The configuration is good and easy to use, however, the renewal cost is higher than that of other vendors.

We have used FortiMail and Fortinet products for six years, with FortiAnalyzer used for about three years.

FortiMail is very stable. On a scale from one to ten, I would rate its stability at a ten out of ten.

We have not switched to any other vendor because replacing these appliances would require significant infrastructure development, which is costly.

We have not had any return on investment from FortiMail as we primarily use it to maintain continuity and security of our main products.

Pricing can be expensive. The cost can range from fifty thousand to one hundred thousand dollars, depending on the appliance being licensed.

I would recommend FortiMail for its ease of use and a single interface for all products. However, the renewal cost is higher than that of other vendors. 

Overall, I rate the solution nine out of ten.
