You pay by the hour for the security agent, and your rate depends on the EC2 instance type you run it on. Each dimension maps to one specific instance size, from small general-purpose types like t2 and t3 up to memory-, compute-, storage-, and GPU-focused families and bare-metal options. Larger or more specialized instances carry higher hourly rates than smaller ones. You are billed only for the hours each instance runs, so cost scales with the number and size of instances you deploy. No upfront commitment applies.
Top-of-mind questions for buyers
What does one hourly unit cover for this security agent?
Each hourly unit covers the software running on one EC2 instance of the matching type. You pick the dimension that equals your instance size, such as m5.large or c6i.xlarge. Every running instance meters its own hours. Run several instances and each accrues charges separately by its own type.
Am I charged when an instance running the agent is stopped?
Hourly software charges apply only while an instance runs. A stopped or terminated instance stops accruing the agent's hourly fee. Underlying AWS storage or other AWS resource fees may still apply separately, but the security agent meters running hours only.
What drives my total cost across these instance-type dimensions?
Two factors drive cost: which instance types you run and how many hours each runs. Larger or specialized types carry higher hourly rates than smaller ones. Charges from each running instance add together on one invoice. Deploying more instances or larger sizes raises your total.

An AMI is a virtual image that provides the information required to launch an instance. Amazon EC2 (Elastic Compute Cloud) instances are virtual servers on which you can run your applications and workloads, offering varying combinations of CPU, memory, storage, and networking resources. You can launch as many instances from as many different AMIs as you need.
