WooCommerce on AWS - Zero-Touch Store Install, CloudWatch & SSM Ready

     Info
    Sold by: Cloud SOE
    Deployed on AWS
    AWS Free Tier
This is a repackaged open source software product wherein additional charges apply for an unattended first-boot installation of WordPress with WooCommerce and the Storefront theme pre-activated, per-instance admin/database credentials and TLS certificate, pre-configured Amazon CloudWatch log/metric shipping and AWS Systems Manager access, SSH hardening, and vendor support from CloudSOE.

    Overview

Launch a production ready WooCommerce store on AWS in minutes, on a stack actually tuned for commerce rather than a blog with a shop bolted on. Built for merchants, agencies and developers who know that store performance is revenue: every second of checkout latency costs conversions, and generic one click images leave that money on the table. This image ships WordPress and WooCommerce current stable on a hardened stack.

What you get out of the box

    • Current stable WordPress and WooCommerce
    • CIS aligned OS hardening, UFW allowing 80, 443 and SSH only; HTTP redirects to HTTPS after certificate setup
    • WP-CLI installed for scripted product imports, updates, backups and migrations

    Common use cases

    • Merchant stores: catalogue, cart, checkout and order management you own, without per transaction platform fees on the software itself
    • Agencies: repeatable client store deployment with WP-CLI scripting and identical hardened bases
    • Migrations: from hosted platforms via documented product and order import paths, with a services option
    • Staging and production parity: same AMI for both, snapshot promotion documented

    Usage notes

    • Attach an IAM instance role with the AWS-managed policies CloudWatchAgentServerPolicy and AmazonSSMManagedInstanceCore to activate CloudWatch and Session Manager. No AWS credentials are stored on the image.
    • Credentials: /opt/wordpress/default-wordpress-credentials.txt. Web root: /var/www/wordpress. Apache vhost: /etc/apache2/sites-available/wordpress.conf. TLS: /etc/ssl/certs/wordpress-selfsigned.crt and /etc/ssl/private/wordpress-selfsigned.key. After moving to a domain, update the home/siteurl options with wp-cli (see the login banner).
    • Ports: 22 (SSH/SFTP), 80 (HTTP), 443 (HTTPS).
    • CloudWatch config: /opt/aws/amazon-cloudwatch-agent/etc/amazon-cloudwatch-agent.d/woocommerce.json.

    Quick Start:

    • Your store is already installed. Browse to https:/// (self-signed certificate; replaceable).
    • Log into https:///wp-admin with the credentials from /opt/wordpress/default-wordpress-credentials.txt (SSH in as 'ubuntu' to read it).
    • Your first login opens the WooCommerce setup wizard (payments, shipping, products).
    • Monitoring: attach an IAM instance role with the AWS-managed policies CloudWatchAgentServerPolicy and AmazonSSMManagedInstanceCore to enable CloudWatch logs/metrics (namespace CloudSOE/woocommerce) and Session Manager.

    Sizing guidance

Stores are heavier than blogs. Evaluation: t3.medium. Production store: m7i.large with gp3 storage. High traffic or large catalogues: m7i.xlarge, with RDS and ElastiCache offload documented in the architecture guide.

    Highlights

    • Zero-touch store: on first boot the image installs WordPress core unattended via wp-cli, activates WooCommerce and the Storefront theme and sets pretty permalinks your first login opens the WooCommerce setup wizard, with no web installer to click through.
    • Secure by default
    • Observability and operations built in: Amazon CloudWatch agent ships the store's Apache access/error logs, MariaDB error log, syslog and auth.log and publishes host metrics under CloudSOE/woocommerce; Amazon SSM Agent enables Session Manager; backed by CloudSOE support.

    AI Insights

     Info

    Dimensions summary

You pay by the hour for the Amazon EC2 instance you run this pre-configured WooCommerce store image on. The software price is the same across instances; your hourly rate changes with the instance you pick. Options span burstable t2 and t3 sizes for light traffic up to large m4, m5, m6, and m7 families, including memory, network-optimized, disk-backed, and bare-metal variants. Sizes scale from nano and micro up to metal and 48xlarge. Choose a size to match your traffic and performance needs; billing rises with instance capacity.

    Top-of-mind questions for buyers

You pay per hour for the EC2 instance running the pre-built WooCommerce image. The image bundles the WooCommerce plugin, Storefront theme, WP-CLI, Apache, PHP, MariaDB, phpMyAdmin, HTTPS, and SFTP on a hardened Ubuntu base. WordPress installs automatically at first boot, so no web installer setup is needed.
The software meters running instance-hours. A fully stopped instance stops accruing the hourly software charge. Stopped instances may still incur separate AWS storage fees for attached volumes, billed by AWS. Your bill rises with the hours the chosen instance runs, matching your traffic patterns.
The software fee stays the same across every instance type. The differing rate reflects the underlying EC2 instance capacity you select. Burstable t2 and t3 sizes suit light traffic. Larger m4, m5, m6, and m7 families, including memory, network, disk, and bare-metal variants, handle heavier loads.
